There was plenty of well maintained singletrack immediately off Seminary. I followed the trail along the edge of the reservoir. Overall, the trail is smooth, twisty, and relatively dry. There were several log ramps, some better maintained than others. Trail along the edge of the reservoir is relatively flat with short hills interspersed. I did not venture onto the fire roads, so I cannot comment on the quality of those trails.

This trial has everything! It is faily well groomed. The downhill descents are awesome. You can fly through the woods. The only hing that could be upsetting is that there is only a handfull of major jumps. USE CAUTION AT INTERSECTIONS. All of the ridders are friendly and nice. Lots of deer.

Well, Looks like no one has posted an updated review. I ride these trails every weekend. They can become VERY crowded with riders and trail runners. Loch Raven has a good mix of everything from Single Track to Double Track, rocky/rooty to smooth. One thing I will say about LR is there are some gnarly hills, smooth and steep and rocky and steep. Some rocky high speed downhills and some root covered flats, especially when riding along the waters edge.

If you are heading our there watch for other riders and respect the trail.

Customer Service

Starting at the intersection of Dulaney Valley and Seminary and head East on Seminary (That is a right turn off of Dulaney Vlly). Go about 200 ft and the the trail begins on the left just after you cross the small bridge. Enter trail at Seminary and ride about 100ft and there is a single track trail to your left, take this trail for a good warm up. This trail will spit you our at the first stream crossing, be careful those rocks are slippery! When you cross the stream you will be on the fire road and you have several choices as to where you can go. At the top of the hill after the stream you can take a left on another single track trail and this will take you along the edge of the water as you make your way around Loch Raven. If you stay on the fire road you will head back to Providence Road on a nice wide trail, full of hills. If you take the single track around the waters edge watch out for all the roots, keep your speed up and navigate carefully.

Lots of wildlife in Loch Raven. Deer everywhere, see them everytime I am out there, just keep your eyes open.

This trail system has a lot to offer for people of all skill levels.

Customer Service

The trailhead's fire road can be taken directly to Providence Rd in about 3.5 miles. Between that are some sweet trails the make use of single track along the resevoir's edge, fire road climbs to high single track up on the ridge. You can cross over the resevoir before Providence Rd and find additional trails mostly challenging fire roads. There's more, you just have to ride here.
