I rode this trail for the first time this year, yesterday actually. It about killed me. Never the less, I loved every minute of it. It takes about 50 minutes to 1 hour to ride the complete trail (one way). I will try and describe it. When you enter the trailhead, follow the trail until you can make your first left. At this point it is mostly downhill across some pet rocks. After pet rocks, trail bears left up hill. Travel to a 4 way intersection and turn left. Go down next grade, trail winds to left. Follow trail, eventually you will approach a sandy section, after first climb, you will see houses on your left. Continue to next intersection (T intersection) bear left. Ride 50 yards turn right, go up steep hump. Descent has some lose rocks and sand here. Follow trail thru switchbacks, you can see water on your right. You come to what looks like a T intersection, except I don't think you can turn rt. You must bear left. This is the beginning of an early season killer climb. You'll know when you reach the top! At the top bear left, don't take trail on right. Continue downhill around cable at the bottom. Be cautious around cable at bottom. Go around on the right. Enter private drive. Go right on the private gravel drive. (Don't worry, no one has shot at us yet). You will see water running over rocks. Before reaching end of drive, take a right down thru loose gravel, across broken concrete at bottom. Continue up next hill. Follow this trail. Do not take any of what appears to be single track paths. They will take you thru Soldiers Delight, back to road near Wards Chapel. The next intersection is a triangular area on your right. Don't take this. Stay left. Proceed down a gradual fast grade. Switchback to the left at bottom. Cross over a couple more hills. Finally you approach another cable at a private black top drive. No one has shot at us here either. Go right on driveway. Cross over wood bridge. Immediately after bridge, a cable is on the right. (If you miss this you will end up at Wards Chapel road.) Go around cable. Proceed on a single track section. This is the only short single track thru out entire ride. Single track opens to wider fire trail. Continue to next intersection. It is a T intersection, turn right. You go up a little hill, thru a couple of swithbacks. You are now in the pines (in the pines on the left is a great place for sex, that is if you are lucky enough to have a partner like I do!). After pines continue down a gradual fast grade that curves left at the bottom, you go up another hill with a steep little hump at the top. Proceed down fast loose grade which curves left. At the bottom it curves right up the next hill. Trail ends at old Liberty Road. Turn right on old road, which breaks up and disapears into the water. Park your bike, drink your fluids, rest and relax before riding back.
