These trails are very easy and perfect for me. May was National Stroke Awareness Month and to celebrate I had TWO! Worked my right side back to usefulness and in early July dusted off my road bike, only to discover the strokes had killed the one brain cell that it takes to balance on a bike. Luckily, I had one brain cell left, so taught that one to balance. Bought a MTB for stability. Anyway, nice place to ride if you want to get away from the crowds on paved trails and need the wide trails cuz you tend to stray to the right every now and then! My rating of 5 means it is perfect for my needs at the moment.

Good place to get away from people. Sand gets soft on roads after a good rain. Watch out for occasional horses. Very easy going, not a tech. challenge but great place just to ride and clear the fog out of your head!

Customer Service

Stick to color trails, ride the outside loop. Don't forget to check in at visitors center, they freak if you don't!

These trails consist of wide fire roads that wind through a former ordanance explosion range that has been converted into a wild life preserve. The trails are sandy and can be ridden after a hard rain. They're definitely beginner level, but are good for exercise and are more interesting than riding on paved bike paths. I've seen bald eagles nesting here, as well as numerous owls and great blue herrons fishing the numerous ponds. A short segment of abandoned fire road leads up a gentle hill into the woods and past a small cemetery with some old and interesting headstones, if you're into that sort of thing.

I come here mainly when it's too wet to ride anywhere else. Coupled with the more technically interesting 3+ mile loop (the jogging trail) and connecting trails around the Ft. Meade golf course and through the woods, you can get a good workout.

This is a nice place to get outside and enjoy exercise and scenery. Very good for beginners. Cross bikes can easily be ridden here also.

Middle of deer hunting season. Biked 3 miles before I realized I might get shot. One hunter confirmed my concern. Call visitor center 410-674-3304 so you don't waste a trip. Only rode on fire roads. Wasn't impressed. I think deer hunting is September through January except Sundays. For beginners only.
