I Rode left and right side for a while. Pretty rocky in some spots. Pretty muddy in most spots. Left side ended up in some private property. We may have ridden off main path. Not real clear where to go.
Right side went and went. Path stays close to creek and it will be hard to get lost. Many areas were very rocky. I'm surprised rims made it through ride. I will ride it again. Its close and better than path in back yard.Trail is pretty straight and you could really hit it pretty fast. The trail was easy enough to follow, and looked like not many people have been there. So bring what you need to get out. You will not be likely to have somebody roll by to ask for help.
Some perspective: I usually ride at Schaeffer, and like it. Its easy and can be fast. But its usually busy. If riding alone i'll ride at home and be safe, or ride at Schaeffer knowing that people will come by and find my body. I'm not sure i'd ride out there alone. But will ride it again. Enjoy.

The rating i've given are relative. I don't know how hard to rate it.
On a MTB its would be all easy, on a cross its a little trickier ( but i'm new to cross and drop bars). Aerobic depends on how fast you want to take it.

Customer Service

Follow directions from Gue rode. Park after bridge (on side you came in on). Ride back over bridge and ride side you parked on.

Went out yesterday and parked down just across the bridge. Took the trail that went to the Trout Pond. Found the fireroads and they found my granny gears! A lot of horse damange which must of been from the farm that is east of the trail. I only found about 3 miles of trail and thought there might be more but after looking for about 2 hours I just ended back at the same spot. Below the "fatty" powerlines there seems to be more riding but I am not sure if that is still park property. On the other side of the road I still did not see any more trails. So to sum this up if you are looking for a quick ride with a 5 mile loop, try it out. I was not impressed except for that purpose. You might see that I have tried to fix some of the logs on the fire road to make them rideable.

Customer Service

Once you get to the trout pond head left. Do not go up the hill on the right. Once you go left you will hit the fireroad again. Go up the hill and either contiune down the fire road, or keeping looking on your right for a covered up trail/water shed. I hit about 15 MPH down hill there. You are now back to the trail where you started. Do it again and this time do not take the trail on the right from the fireroad. Keep going by all the downed trees and try your luck on a steep downhill.

My first ride in this area was great! great except for the guy who threw sticks at me. Oh and the guy with the sweet klein and even sweeter mullet (next time try and make some room when folks want to pass you--fatty!) Back to the trails. One medium length section of rocky-gnarly-nasty-singletrack...was so good i'll be back for sure. This is no place for race tires, you NEED 2.3"s if you wanna keep yer teeth! got it? There are also some pretty nasty drop offs that really sneak up on you...Above all BE CAREFUL--live to ride another day

Customer Service

It's really all consistently good and technical, scary even!--has some of the most technical climbing anywhere (and i'm from new england!) Try to avoid all "nouveau riche" on their silly cannondale's and kleins and treks and...you get the picture, fat guys that wannabe hardcore riders.

This can be some sticky shit when it gets muddy so make sure that it has been dry for a few days prior to a trip. And watch out for james if your riding yuppie bikes he sounds kinda crazy...these parts are home to his kind of fanatic redneck antics...

Customer Service

The one that james recommended or pull off adjacent to the powerlines. The are trails following the lines in both directions w/ some crazy downhilling and off shoot xcountry trails.

Could not find all those rockin trails. Went left as suggested by james and only found some 4-wheeler trails and 3 miles or so of fire roads. saw horse trail (lotsa horse damage) across creek which we didn't follow. Took trail along river on right side of road for 7 miles until it petered out. Can someone give a clue where the good stuff is?

Customer Service
