Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, The Indian Bayou Area is a 28,000 acre public access area. It contains some of the country's most productive wildlife habitat. It's a paradise for hunters, fishermen, bird-watchers, boaters, nature photographers and now Mountain Bikers! Mountain bikes have full access to all Hiking & ATV Trails. The area is located in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin, the world's largest freshwater swamp wilderness, and offers some of the finest bottomland hardwood views hunting in the South. Not used much in the summer, but gets busy during hunting season.

Access to this area is via I10, take Butte La Rose exit (exit 121), follow dirt levee road north for 5.6 miles, (the raised levee road has a few off shoots to get down to the parking areas), parking area on the sixth parking area on the left.
