pretty well-rounded,the blue trail has some pretty decent climbs, lots of roots and your ride will last a while, the yellow, pretty easy but still fun, good flowing sections and some climbs, the other 1/2 to 1 mile trails are about the same. All in all its pretty good for swla.

Customer Service

Blue is hardest, then yellow, the rest are same, you choose

The trail is in pretty good shape. It's more like 5.25 miles if you ride all the sections. Stay off the yellow trail -- There are no hard climbs and some places flow faster than others. The section of bridges get slippery when covered with pine needles. You can make this trail tougher and more fun the faster you ride. Be sure to ride the connecting trail from the main section that adds a good mile to the whole length -this is the fastest and best flowing section. The last section leading to the exit(entrance) to the park gate is fun as well and is probably the newest/smoothest part. It's well marked. You can enter by the park entrance -about 100 yards on your right as you drive in or park by the maintenance shed and hit the trailhead there. Thank You Sam Houston Park for keeping it up. It's what we got here in SWLA and I'm happy to have it. It drains well so don't let the LA rain spoil your desire. GO RIDE !

The Blue Trail is open. The Yellow Trail (near the boat launch) is closed and looks like it will be for the long haul.

It's a good ride when you just need something quick. You can just about make it as fun you want to make it. It's in Southwest Louisiana, so you have to know that large hills will not come into the equation... get over it. Enjoy it for what it is worth and have fun.

I rode this trail once about a year ago. As far as a nice ride goes...this is it. If you want satisfaction of being a hard care biker, go somewhere else. The scenery is nice, but as far as technical skills, it's not here. I came from Europe riding fast technical downhill/XC downhill, so this was a disappointment. It's a nice park and for the area finding any trail to ride is a gift. If you're in the area, ride it...but don't make a special trip for it.

You could just about take your kids on this trail with their training wheels in place. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to say this is a junk trail. The people that maintain and ride it on a regular basis enjoy it a good deal, It's just flat. Flat, flat, flat. No ones fault. What do you do in Lake Charles "where it's flat"? Complaining don't build hills and switchbacks. Moving along. Good scenery, access, maintenance and fairly nice people. Good place to run off road time trial. Usually stays dry.

Customer Service

Anywhere in the park. It's all about the same.

I rode this trail almost every day after work for a few months after work while I was living in Louisiana this spring. It's quite pleasant and you get a decent workout but don't expect a challenge--it's very easy. You can do almost the whole thing in one gear. The trail surface is usually fairly soft and slightly damp, offering great traction. There are no rocks in Louisiana, so don't worry about flatting too much. There's an occasional log to jump or ditch to clear, but overall very easy. I'd be comfortable taking firt-timers here.
Overall, pleasant but easy. The local riders have put alot of TLC into it.

About 4-5 miles of miniature Huntsville TX state park. At good speed (it rides fast) it is a great work-out, very few people, trail is very well maintained and designed. At low speed it is a nice and easy ride. I rode it about 4 times and it is well worth my 1 hour drive. It stays quite dry (just some muddy spots) after a rain.

Customer Service

Easy to find, follow signs from I-10 to the park. Start at the boat ramp, take yellow and then blue trail.
