I have been on this trail system before on day hikes with the dogs. Those times the trails were war torn as described in previous posts so I kept to the usual trails at LBL. Yesterday in a moment of afternoon boredom I decided on riding and at Pennyrile due to its proximity. I was not expecting much. After about a mile of riding I was thoroughly impressed with how far the trail system has come. You are still going to come across the ATV ruts and occasional pile of horse mud, but all in all for a short track, it is worth giving another shot. Definitely not the place that you should plan your weekend around, but worth a morning or afternoon

Overgrown, multiple downed trees across trail. Loop 3 is cutoff completely by fallen trees. Many of the ramps and bridges are in disrepair. I assume there is no trail maintenance due to lack of local interest. Has potential to be a nice trail.

Customer Service

Loop one is mostly clear. Loop two is clear but I am uncertain about where loops two and three share the trail.

Crap!! Finding the trailhead and parking area was easy enough. Should have been paying attention to the surroundings though. The forestry department must be working over time out there to cut down trees. They were everywhere on the trail. Not just branches but complete trees. I might add, not just on the trail but all over the area. This place looked like a war torn 3rd world country and I have some experience in that department. It's going to take a while for this place to get cleared up. If you plan on riding up there, make sure you call ahead and find out about the trail.....I should have! This one is permanently off my list. Wasted an hour of driving to get there.

My wife and I made it over to the Macedonia Loops today. Loop I is in decent shape but the rest were pretty rough. Loop II bearing the worst of the damage. Not sure if it is due to the recent wind storms or not but there were huge trees down every 100' or so on Loop II. Other than that it was a beautiful day to ride.

I gave this trail an overall rating of 2 because of the debris. Trail II was quite miserable and on several occasions we had to wade through waste high weeds.

Great place. It's our third time out there, second time on our new bikes. Upon my return from Iraq, I purchased myself a 2006 Trek 6500 and my son a 2006 Gary Fisher Advance. We had ridden this track previously with department store bikes (see my first review).

The guys at Bikes & Moore really made some improvements on the track from the first time we've ridden and it's maintained and marked very well.

We're beginning to understand the technical aspect of riding and are learning alot, and there's plenty here to teach us.

Customer Service

We normally start off by taking Loop One to the left, we get to the Loop One/Loop Two juntion and take Loop Two all the way around, coming back the same way we started. Check out "Places To Ride" on the link provided to view an updated map of the trails. There's also pictures in the picture gallery under 'Pennyrile'.

As beginners, my son and I (on our department store bikes) decided to take the trip from Fort Campbell to Dawson Springs to ride our first trail. We normally piddle around here on post. It was wonderful. We both had a blast. I can't get into the technical aspect of it all as I just began the sport and it was pretty difficult for us both. Lack of experience and confidence in our bikes, led us to take it pretty easy on our first serious downhill of Loop One. My son came to the bottom of it pretty fast and hit a man made ramp but didn't realize it was there and took a bit of a header. It was a great ride though, and we'll be back in a few weeks. We're gonna continue with our department store bikes until I get back from Iraq.

Customer Service

Only took Loop One, but have heard great things about Loop Two from a helpful worker at Bikes And Moore in Hopkinsville, KY.

The trail is moderately technical with an increasing number of man made attractions. Be careful.

Customer Service

There are 3 connected loops, and it's best to do them all both ways. Careful attention to the signs at intersections will keep you from getting lost.

Great fun in a short place. Not a lot of miles here but an absolute ball to ride. Once they get the connected up with the other pennyrile trails this will be excellent. Be very careful around the North Shore stuff. My back still hurts.

We rode loop 1 and 2 - great little loops. We were not able to ride them real fast because of rain the night before, however the bed of pine needles soak up the water pretty well. there is a few little technical sections, with some home-made bridge ladders and log hops etc. We had a really great time - trail completely to ourselves. I would consider this trail intermediate, but my buddt thought it was highly advanced. I think from a technical stand point you could consider it advanced, but the climbs are moderate at best.

Something for everyone out here. If you like getting hard core, they have some obstacles on loop 2. Just want a smooth ride? Just ride it at your own pace. Jumps are all over the trails here. Its a great place to have fun.

Customer Service

Park at the cemetary and go on to the trails and ride till you get tired. Signs at all the intersections make it hard to get lost. If you need a map, Ask Dave at Bikes and Moore, they have a good map for you.
