Good for all levels, and Very fast. This is rolling single track that has a great veiw of the lake. Good place to take someone who is new to biking, Not very Tech. Good riders will love the speed and variation in terrain. For a more technical ride go pass 192 and down Cane Creek, Very tech downhill!

A really nice trail because its not TOO difficult but you can make it more challenging just by going faster. No long killer uphills or downhills, and no ATVs. Somehow although the trail is mostly level the ride back on the highway is mostly downhill (magic?) and goes MUCH quicker than the trail portion of the loop

Customer Service

You can park just past the west end of the dam, cross the road to find the trail, follow all the way to to the junction of 192 and 1193 and take 1193 back to where you parked. You may get lost around Holly Bay Marina. If that happens, just take the road out of the marina and look for the place where the trail crosses the marina road.

An easy ride with great scenery. The National Forest Service keeps the trail free of roots and fallen trees. They have also constructed wooden bridges over the tributary creeks. We were there in late October, at the peak of fall color and were the only ones using the trail that we know of. The Holly Bay Campground is almost empty at that time too, leaving several lake view campsites available.

As described this is a very low tech trail, good for introducing older kids to MTB riding. Plenty of scenic views of lake. During summer it can be populated by boaters and campers, so be careful on blind curves.

Customer Service

Park at 192/1193 split parking lot

Similar Products Used: Cross 192 and go north on Sheltowee Trace. Since '98 trail has been "cleaned up" by cyclists wanting a lower tech ride. Ride about 2 miles and cross Cane Creek to Van Hook Falls (Very Technical). Carry bike above the Falls and take new trail 120 to Winding Stair Gap trail (aggressive technical switchbacks, dh's and climbs). Take Stair Gap to Forest Road 119 and head south. This takes you back to area above Van Hook Falls. For Variety, when you cross back over Cane Creek, you can ride Forest Road 109 to 192, and ride the road 2 miles back to the parking lot. Total distance around 11-13 miles. Moderate to Highly Technical. I've ridden it about 12-15 times a year. The small waterfalls and scenic areas are wonderful. Use your ears to find some of the hidden waterfalls.
