Minor Park Trail - Trail, Prarie village/kcmo, Kansas

DESCRIPTION

Trail is close to 5 miles in length. You can go through the river, and exit on the opposite bank. Lots of ups and downs. I would rate it intermediate-slightly challenging.

Minor is one of the better trails in the kansas City area.. i personnally like Landahl Park better but its also 30 more min from my house.. Minor has alot of varied trails.. Some smooth paths to really rocky downhill (well kansas downhills anyway) The river crossings are fun and all smooth rock bottom so you dont get to muddy. WE have a 10 mile loop that we have been doing out there that is great.

Customer Service

Well I have a loop but dont know how to tell you it,.. Just explore

Overall there are many winding portions of this trail that overlap. I park at what is known as the 117th and Lydia trailhead. There are a couple of river crossings fairly soon (as long as the water is low). If you don't cross over the road to the east side trails, the Minor trails still offer a lot of fun. There is a section of "slickrock" that is right along the river offering a bit of a challenge for many, but quite do-able.
I like to connect this trail with the east side stuff, and on down the trail to BRP (don't know if this is the real name or not, but stands for Blue River Parkway trail), which offers a great deal of challenging rock obstacles, drops, crossings, logs, roots, ups, downs...you name it. All done in the same day (or night as we do it too), it offers a physically demanding workout as well as a solid intermediate techical workout. There are a couple of drops that are more than 3 feet, but setting up for them properly is the more difficult part.
No doubt, this area will be expanding and becoming more known. If you are in the area, give it all a try and just wind around. Some of it is still in the infancy of development, but damn fine riding.
If you are comfortable with your abilities, you will love this trail.

There are many different parts of this trail which overlap each other or can be done as a large loop.

It's great cause I live nearby. I typically enter by the tennis courts, keep left and then UNDER Blue river road (now on east side) via small bridge. Then a nice climb begins, some cruisin, then rocky downhill, then a wicked climb that probably no one can clean. More riding on some fun stuff, then I cross back over Blue river back to the west side, ride some more, and eventually go under blue river via paved trail to the north end stuff which is my favorite. Some nice climbs, a funny little ride through a shed, and it all loops around to spit ya back at under the bridge and wind your way around and ride the rest of the west side trails. I do this just a bit different each time and it'll basically take me 1-1/2 hours, plus 15 minutes to get home, so it's a nice 2 hour ride.

Customer Service

I start at many places depending (i ride from my house).
