Captains Log. . . .Sept 2010 . . . conditions . . .extremely dry. . . weather . . . temps in the upper 90's daily . . .riding conditions . . .EXCELLENT!!! . . . .with these weather conditions, I would highly recomend that any one come out and ride these trails! If you live in the Lou area and you haven't been out here, you are missing out! The state parks dept and the forestry division have poured a ton of money into these trails to ensure that they are attractive to the horse community. . . i.e. new gravel base, bathrooms, camping facilities, ease of access. . . I have ridden almost all of the designated loops and there are only a couple of spots where you have to hike-a-bike. Almost all of it is a gravel based trail. Miles and miles of ridable trails! The red loop alone is 20+ miles long. Love it! Add the green loop to it and you have nearly a 30 mile long loop. Throw in the blue loop section and it suddenly becomes a 37 mile long loop! Gravel/dirt trails! Almost 40 miles long! What more do you want?!?!? :-)

Although we had read the reviews on this site regarding the Deam lake trail we attempted to ride it anyway. On 6-21-08 we started up the trail, it had a uphill climb for about the first 1/8 mile then it flattened out for a short distance when it came to a pretty nice downhill. at the bottom of the hill we had to stop due to a tree across the trail past the tree it turned into a lot of horse muck and rough hoof ruts with a lot of standing water. We wound up carrying our bikes several times through the woods to avoid the mess.

Customer Service

There was no evidence that anyone had been riding anything but horses on this trail. I would not recommend this trail at all. I was very disappointed and will never attempt this trail again.

I wouldn't recommend riding here. The loop is short, lots of horse muck. Even in the driest part of the year, the horse hoove holes filled with water create mosh pits.

Similar Products Used: Cherokee park, wilderness trail loop in Louisville. Just as close to clark county as deams lake and in much better shape.

There didn't seem to be a lot of evidence of riding going on. Trail was overgrown in many parts with summer foliage but is well marked with blazes on trees. Better views of the lake in the fall. Watch out on downhill about .5 miles into trail where it drops off suddenly into a stream.

My first real trail, so keep in mind I'm a rookie. But anyways, it seemed very challenging at times, w/the long climbs and some very fast downhills. Very enjoyable, although it was a little wet when i went. At first there were several downed trees blocking the path, but then there was some great riding. I recommend a more experienced rider try it and review it.

Customer Service

I parked at campsite 7 and entered there. Rode til it came to a "T" and went right. Came out on the main road in front of the gatehouse
