Aldeen Park - TRAIL

Aldeen Park - Trail, Rockford, Illinois

Lots of roots, double track throughout the park. Some singletrack-- the real fun is jumping over the sides of the creek, otherwise, there isnt a whole lot to do...But if your into some "extreme" freeriding, this is the best spot in Rockford. A number of high flying jumps, and sick drop offs. Check out my website for some pictures of aldeen, and of me riding it . http://homestead.juno.com/mak90_1/mountainbike.html

some very fun stuff out there. problem is, its just a spider-webbed, cluster-f*** of a trail system, no signage or layout of any kind. I went out and just rode around trying to ride everything and get an idea of whats there. rode for like 2 hours and still didn't ride it all. There were lots of trails that just dead end into nothing. you could tell there was some crazy m-f'ers out there at one point. lots of potential for some fun freeride stuff, i'm going to look into doing some work there, and building some stuff, but i've got to figure out who to talk to.

one thing it has plenty of is steep hills, i was in my smallest chainring almost the whole time. a few hills i couldn't even get up because my front tire wouldn't stay down. definitely some challenges.

Customer Service

just plan on going in circles and doubling back alot

great trails, my buddy and i went out there today and had alot of fun, it's right next to the rockford college campus so if your going there next semester you wont get bored. some technical stuff here and there whenever you see a tree down, have no fear there are usually built up logs and sticks before it so you can either jump it or ride right over. we even ran into a suspended log (between 3 and 4 feet up) to ride over a 25 foot long ditch so if your a more advanced rider out with some people that are new to the activity you can show off a little without getting bored. i am new to the sport myself so i need ideas on a new bike considering i am riding a walmart bike.

i've said this about 6 times today but the best descripstion i can come up with is "a diamond in the rough". these trails are sick, i was just out today and the trails are so fluid it is awesome. there are a couple really techy sots so practice attack position a bit and make sure those brakes are working lol. over all this place is great. there are random spots for all different skill levels and some of the best runs i've done. i reccomend this to ANYONE who is looking for some fun!

Follow North Alpine Road to the entrance. or go in through Rockford Colleges campus entrance and cut back till you get to the dorms. there are about 3 obvious entrances around the dorms

One word. Freeriding. If you ask me, this place is the best freeriding spot in Rockford. Plenty of drop offs and decents, great places to catch some air, and the trails and full of roots, but enjoyable. Good place to go for about an hour of riding.

Customer Service

Since there isnt a lot of trail, just either make your own trail and ride it, or find one that looks interesting...

the park is small so don't expect to ride for 3 hours on different trails. there are several miles of trail to keep you occupied. it appears the park does not maintain the trails but there are a few locals who are keeping them in good shape. lots of single track and it is all narrow. if you like to ride something a bit more tech than rock cut give these trails a try. keep your eyes out for what looks to be a trail but your not sure, then take it and enjoy. there is some sick stuff there made by an escaped lunitic w/ a bike, if you have the balls to try it may god have mercy on your soul. enjoy.

Customer Service

look for things off the beaten path and you will be a much happier rider

Lot's of fun. Great place to go if you don't want to ride to Rock Cut. Very narrow. Whatever level theres some nice climbs and descents and a paved trail for beginners. If you like try to get out there to keep it up and to move all the stupid trees they put so u can avoid having to jump over them. Great place not far away

Customer Service

Go down Alpine North from State STreet it'll be on your right

About anything you can think of is there. Plenty of trail, tons of logs, a few good downhill places, a series of jumps if you're into that.( Someone with a death wish) There is a couple of built up rides about 10 feet in the air. Good place to keep finding new challenges every time you go. Good for any level biker. You'll also find the only duct taped car in Rockford.

Great Location. Just off East State and Mulford. Go North from East State and Mulford and It will be on the right at the top of the hill.
