Weekend Warrior

This is a urban warrior's dream trail. Paved throughout for about 11 miles. It runs through the woods at Callaway crossing 12 bridges. It circles some 3-4 lakes and ponds in the park. There is a quick 1/2 mile downhill run from back of the Butterfly House toward the Sibley Center that winds along an old mill race. Warning: idiot childern are given a rental bike by doting parents and will make a sharp turn left at your approch without reason. The best weekend time to ride these trails is to get there when the gates open at 7:30. The buildings will not open until 10:00 which is also the stated opening time in park brochures. That means you will have the roads and trails to yourself until 10:00 on Saturday and 1:00 on Sundays when the "Fish" people show up after church. Otherwise don't expect a lot and you won't be dissapointed. Suggest you take a camera and go around Easter for the azelias and tulip displays.

Weekend Warrior

My main motivation for reviewing this is to let you know that the entrance fee is about $12 for bikers, however, you can get in free if you tell the gate attendant that you are eating there. Be forewarned that the food is expensive, so just eat a token amount there (a burger) so you aren't lying. I ate $14 worth of junk food, but then again that was my main source of carbs for a century.

Frankly, a road bike is more fun here if riding on the roads. Although, an easy mountain bike ride on their walking/biking trails is very pretty in the springtime. They do rent bikes there, but bring your own if you ride much at all. Aerobic effort depends on how hard you make it. The trails are nice enough in themselves, but the real appeal is in the buildings and structures (golf course, butterfly house, circus in the summertime, church, Christmas lights in December).

Ok um i don't know why this is even on this site i mean it's good for a little family ride or for little kids but in no way is this trail for anykind of GOOD Mountain Bikers Im not dissing it or anything but if you want to ride a trail similar to this ride from your house on to a sidewalk thats all it is is a sidewalk the only hard part of it is the crazy people who don't move when you try to ride buy and the part were you ride on a little path buy the rode and the cars try to fucking hit your ass cause they think they own the road i mean it might be a good trail if you ride a road bike and want to train a little bit but other then that i only rode it once and im never going to ride it again im sorry but i like to ride hard and shed a little blood from time to time and this trail is not for me it may be for someone else but i just wanted to get that off my chest don't hate me thank you

This trail is not for the die-hard rider...but it is a treasure for beginners and casual bikers. The trail is serene and the scenery is majestic. You won't be disappointed.

Some of us want trails they can enjoy with their children - they need an easygoing introduction to biking... this is the best Georgia has to offer for families. I'd like to hear about more trails like this one so our kids can have fun before moving on to more serious adventures.

It is very scenic but it shouldnt be posted on this site because this site is for mountain bike trails.
This is a good trail for families but i wouldnt recomend it to any one unless they are looking for paved trails or scenic trails or endurance rides.

Wanted to reply to the inquiry about the trail concerning the race they put on. I rode in the race for the first time november 11th of this year. I did a pre ride the day before and found the first 1-2 miles a bit of downhill and a LOT of gravel doubletrack. Between mile 2-4 I was climbing a lot...not really steap climbs...but gradual ones..the rest of the race was really FAST downhill. there were a lot of bumps that allowed for some great hops...found myself turning corners on a hop at 27 mph in the air...it was great...you should enter the race next year!!
