Hephzibah Trail - TRAIL

Hephzibah Trail - Trail, Macon, Georgia

Easy to moderate singletrack. Fun and fast riding without huge climbs. Trail winds around nicely shaded creek. It's easy to get turned around, but since the loops are pretty short, you'll pop out at your car sooner or later.

Thanks to the efforts of out-of-control trail maintenance and construction these trails stink. The land that the trails are on is slowly shrinking due to developement. Every technically challenging aspect of this trail has been smoothed over by the bad back club. Don't recommend riding this trail, the drive to the trail head is more challenging then the trail.

Customer Service

This trail is one of the most confusing places in Ga. to ride. GOOD LUCK!

Technical singletrack. Well shaded. This is a great trail to have close to home. The many loops keep it interesting. If you ride here often, I recommend letting your friends lead occasionally. We all have our preferred routes and following someone else's mixes it up. Short steep climbs, whoop-t-dos, and decent surface make this trail a real asset for Macon.

This is a trail that has gone down over the years due to developement as well as over active trail builders with no accountabilty. However it is still a fun trail to ride if you are in the right mindset - ie. it is a great place to play follow the leader or catch me if you can. If you are in Macon it is worth a look.

Customer Service

Start up trail that runs parallel with the road and work your way down. Then vary it.

While some people seem to be threatened by the fact that SORBA is just trying to help out by keeping this trail in good condition (NO rideable downed trees have been cut under my direction), no one disputes that POWER did a great job having this trail and also the Mumford trail built in Macon. I find it strange that the director of the park has not heard from anyone in the POWER organization since VERY early this year and have asked asked for and approved all the work we have done on the trail (including the new section behind the pumphouse). If so many people have a problem with our organization trying to "help" the cycling community in Macon, then we will step back and let everyone see what will happen to the condition of this trail. We have enough projects in the immediate area to keep us plenty busy! It is sad that a town the size of Macon has to have this ridiculous mentality!!

Customer Service

Start on the sandy road behind the pavilion them follow the trail best you can until some arrows are put up.

Ah, young grasshopper you must first learn to review the correct trail that way your directions make more sense. The time has come for someone to take a stand, so I guess it will have to be me. From Jan. 1 on, I will be taking the first born child of any jack legs that cut trees or go crazy with trail work. There is a fine line between good trail work and trashing a trail with overkill. This trail is not worth your time, do not waste your life riding such a pitiful trail. Let it burn! Let it burn!

Customer Service

Well you start at the chainsaw take a hard right at the overkill bridge and climb the paved road to the finish.

Bill you seem to be BADLY mistaken, SORBA has not taken ANY credit for building this trail. The Ocmulgee Mountain Bike Association (a Macon club that happens to be an affiliate or SORBA) spent ONE day cutting some brush back during the summer. We did this because regardless of the bad reviews on this page, alot of people still ride here. We have not taken ANY credit for building ANY trails or structures at Hephziabah. The one day of work we did was to try to help keep this trail in good shape for those who ride it!

Customer Service

Any way you like.
