Chicopee Woods Ag Center - Trail, Gainesville, Georgia

Chicopee Woods Ag Center - Trail, Gainesville, Georgia

DESCRIPTION

Race course rollercoaster. About 8 miles of fast, exciting sigletrack. This trail demands your attention at all times. There are numerous log piles and mini ledges waiting to throw you. Enjoy the rock pile and big jump. Despite the obstacles, this trail has great flow. You can get into a great groove. There's one very challenging climb and at least two others that will get your attention. This trail was built by SORBA and they've done an incredible job. One of the best trails I've ever ridden.

I am sorry to read that these trails no longer exist. It was my favorite place to ride when I lived on the east coast. I have very fond memories of raod trips from SC to ride there. I am sure SORBA has built great new trails, but I will miss Chicopee. I guess I can always imagine riding there--no one can build a school on my memories!

This place is awesome. There is something for everyone. Its very clean and well marked, though there are spider webs all over the place. The only thing that sucks is when you get near the end of the outer loop by the waterfalls, its nearly impossible to make it over the river and up the incredibly long uphill without stopping. Make sure you call (770) 718-9748 before riding out to see if anything is closed.

Customer Service

Enter the main course accross the donation box. I suggest you go around the outer loop and if you are bored take the zig zag trail. Also you can take the Lake loop as its really relaxing.

Unfortunately, this sweet trail is closed and will not reopen. The land will be used for a new school.

One of the best trails within easy distance (<1hr) from Atlanta. Only one significant lung buster of a climb and amazing downhill that allows as much speed as you can handle. This trail is what riding is all about. Can't believe they're going to close this down at start of August - this is a loss for us Georgia riders. One word for those arseholes who leave their Power Gel wrappers lying about the trail. DONT!!! If you're going to act like you're in the city then stay there and don't mess us these trails. I was there this weekend and there was a few wrappers freshly dropped on the trails. Don't be a tosser, take it home with you.

Customer Service

Only one loop, so clip in and start pedalling.

Chicopee AG Center will close on or about August 1st, 2004. The Chiocpee Woods Park Commission is exchanging the property for more desirable land adjacent to the park. A school will be built on the AG Center site. SORBA supports this development. In the long run we will have a better trail system in Chicopee Woods of over twenty miles. Why SORBA Supports the Chicopee Land Swap. 1. The Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission will compensate SORBA $99,500 for the loss of the Ag Center trail. 2. Mountain bikers will have one trailhead with 20+ miles of singletrack. SORBA has already marked eight miles of new trail in Chicopee Woods and will work with the Park Commission to supervise new construction. 3. The new trail system will have greater connectivity with other trails (Gainesville College) via the proposed Central Hall Multi-use Trail. 4. The new trail will be put into a conservation easement by the Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission, which will make it far more difficult to ever be developed for any purpose. 5. The new property added to the park will help preserve the watershed; this, in turn, protects all of Chicopee Woods, the jewel in the crown of Hall County Greenspace. 6. The land swap is good for education and for taxpayers, since the new Chicopee Woods elementary school will be built on property that cost much less than the original $800,000 budgeted.

One word: Rollercoaster. This trail goes up and down, over and through, and back around. Fast moving trail. Has some NICE downhill sections that're even nicer in some aspects when a little wet. Of course, downhill just means uphill. And yes, they're complimentary uphills to every downhill. One KILLER climb a mile or something in. You'll know when you hit it. This trail is also peppered with nice drops which ARE designated with three downward arrows for big drop, one downward arrow for a "slight" drop, etc. There should be three arrows signaling the climb I just talked about. Other wise, climbs are negotiated through switchbacks. Tight trail in some areas and every now again the trail opens up so that you can pass the slow guy in front of you. That's it! Great trail I think. Have FUN!!!

Customer Service

Park at the Ag. Center and ride past the pavilions to a red gate. If that's not open, there's a blue gate to the right that is actually where you would come out of. And of course, you can ride throught the blue gate and get to the beginning of the trail. Just cross the little dirt road. You'll see...

This trail is awesome. Super technical. Tons of uphill and downhill switch-backs. Trail rides real fast. Real tough uphill section. New almost one mile makes it about a 5.5 mile ride

Customer Service

I ride this trail every other day becuase it is close to home and challenging. I would recommend it to advance as well as begining riders. It's down side is only that it's to short (4.9 now with the new part), but well put together. Watch our for the deer you'll see many!
