Clinton Nature Preserve - Trail, Douglasville, Georgia

Clinton Nature Preserve - Trail, Douglasville, Georgia

DESCRIPTION

There are several trails all over this park. Not really a loop but you can make it a kinda figure 8. You just have to explore this area. Really nice trails with very technical sections and lots of climbing.

Clinton Nature Preserve is a great ride in west GA. It is great for me because the park is 10 miles from the house. Clinton offers something for most riders. Most of the trails are good singletrack, with some pretty technical sections. Climbs are not too bad, except for a couple with some rooted sections. As most other reviewers said, there is no "defined" loop, but you can very easily put several trails together to create a loop. You are never too far from the car park, although at times you will feel like you are far removed from everything....I wish the trails were a marked a little better, but by now I have them memorized. The park has restroom facilities and a large play area, and track for the wife and kids. Law enforcement frequently roll through which makes me feel good about things! I love the place.

Great place to ride. I've lived 10 mins away my whole life. Theres more single track now than there has ever been. There are many different trails that you can make into 6-8mi loops where you can ride about an hour without doing the same trail twice. This is county park so there will be hikers and sometimes horses but they are not usually a problem. You'll usually see a few other riders there.

Customer Service

I HIGHLY recommend using the Strava app or website to see all of the trails. The maps there don't show all of them because some of the trails aren't on the park property but are still fine to ride on.
Strava is the only way I know where you can see a map of all the currently used trails.

Tight & twisty singletrack with some doubletrack and open slickrock connectors. Plenty of climbing if ridden at speed. I was pleasantly surprised at this system. A great work out with some technical stuff. Fast twisty sections as well. If you live in the metro area and haven't ridden here, go check it out for a change of pace. I will be back for sure!

Customer Service

There are 3 loops of good trail. 1 loop on the park side of the powerlines and 2 loops on the far side. Once you figure them out, it is easy to make one big loop out of them.

These trails are really cool to ride on. I go after classes in college and ride for an hour or two. A map is helpful. Just so people know, the Douglasville Bike Shop that used to carry maps is no longer there, but if you go to the City of Douglasville's web page, you can email the parks and rec department and they will send you a map for free! Just got mine the other day, but even if you dont have one, you can explore and have fun with it!

This place is awesome, I was there for about 2 hours yesterday evening. The best singletrack was a little hard to find, but worth looking for. It is strait across the power lines from the rock garden. This place is well worth the drive from Kennesaw, but with Blankets creek so close we’ll see how soon I make it back. Great place to ride in west GA thou. Have fun and don’t get lost…

I have explored these trails twice no and I can't wait to get back out there. I took my twelve year old son with me this last time and he was able to ride every trail we tried. He is a beginner/intermediate rider and I consider myself to be an advanced/intermediate rider. The main trails around the Nature center are smooth double track with some very loose sandy soil and rolling hills that are easy to navigate. There are many single track side trails that lead off the main trails and all seem to loop back. The single tracks are all fairly smooth with a few roots and rocks but overall they are easy to ride. We encountered one trail that had three steep drops that we found challenging and exhilarating. The power line trails were very rutted and rocky with big downhills and and the inevitable big climbs. When we finally found the Rock Garden it was awesome. It looks like a large chunk of Stone Mountain, bigger than a football field and at time was very technical. The rock has a lot of lichen growing on it and would not attempt this if it was wet. But I felt very sure footed on the dry granite and we had fun exploring and trying to ride everywhere on the rock. A detailed map of this area needs to be created as there are many side trails and few people.

downhill to the right of the parking area is a small lake. The trail around the back side of the lake leads to the Rock Garden.

Today, I went for my very first trail ride at this park! It was amazing! from the downhill to the climb that made me sick, I loved everysecond of it! An extremely friendly enviroment and trails for all levels of riders! The scenery was beautiful and I can not wait to go back!!! Seeing how it's only a 20 minute drive from my house, it shouldn't be long till i am back there honing my skills for my new found love, MTB!!!! Also, I met some guy's there and they invited me along to ride with them, we exchanged numbers and now I don't have to woory about being the " lone Rider" out on the trails(unless I wanna be). I recomend everyone in the surrounding area to check this place out!!!!

Customer Service

When you arive at the parking area you will see a white house with a red barn behind it. Go to the left of the house and barn. there is a dirt trail in the open that leads to the woods. follow it and you will have many options of where to go after you get that far. It's not hard to figure out, and the most of the trails seem to intersect into one another! Have fun!

Something for everyone, quiet place, not crowded at all. There's some singletrack, both ridden often/used and overgrown/unused, old cabins and stuff to see here and there, some great climbs and downhill with washed-out ruts and big rocky outcrops along powerlines, some flat sand/grass trails for smooth cruising, a playground, a pond, and plenty of places to explore on your bike. I went all day saturday and had a blast! Rode my ass off and in did not see another cyclist the entire day. Some of the trails I rode were overgrown and had some low hanging branches, roots, dead trees, lots of sticks and rocks, etc. but overall the place is great. Hit up the bike shop mentioned in the other reviews, they'll give you a free map that'll help you find ALL of trails. Some are quite technical, some are easy. You'll get to experience a little bit of everything!

Excelent trail, beginers and skilled ones are welcome,a lot of climbs and awesome hidden trails for everyone who likes to explore.

Customer Service

From the recreational area where the restrooms are, take that trail and get off in the first wood brigde and let the fun begins; after that go to the flat rock and there is 2 trails there, one behind the anttenas and one on your right side (close to the fenced area). There is a new one well marked skills are needed here, dangerous when wet..

Botton line If you like to explore this park is fantastic, I have a map that I can e-mail you if you want, just drop me and e-mail to nr3v@yahoo.com
