Charlton Crossing - Trail, Douglasville, Georgia

Charlton Crossing - Trail, Douglasville, Georgia

DESCRIPTION

Mostly singletrack with some fast/short downhill sections. Most of the trail is well defined and marked. This trail is maintained by a local bike shop and some local riders. A small portion of the trail was destroyed by development. However, the local riders have incorporated reroutes and are currently building new sections of trail. This trail has gotten no exposure, so as of now (03-14-05)it is truly a local trail that not many people know about. this trail has tons of potential and is just begging to be ridden by more riders

I went here because I live very close. It hasn't been maintained in a long time so its pretty difficult to get around it. Plus a new subdivison cut out some of it i believe. I guess if someone wanted to fix it up they could have maybe a couple of miles of trails.

Even though the last review for this trail was from nearly 4 years ago, I decided I'd give it a try. It appears to be overgrown beyond redemption. I'm a very inexperienced rider, so maybe trails are supposed to be covered in overgrowth, branches, and fallen trees, but from my perspective this trail is no longer ridable. I did what I could to follow it for about a 10th of a mile before running into too many fallen trees to discern where the trail continued.

I love this trail.. I just rode it and OMG. It looks as if it was very popular at one point.

go behind the "for sale" sign to the top of the hill. Keep straight and wa-lla.It has some gary fisher boundry tape up. The trail is very fun, tech and great for the downhill'er. The far east boundry is lined by errosion fence, but keep going up. at the top the trail makes a 90deg bend just yards from a new house, then back down into the woods again. Great fun....

I rode this last summer after visiting the bike shop at Douglasville and it was a great trail. They had asked to keep it on the downlow, but since it's here it looks like the word is out. I made about 4 miles in a figure 8 with a little dogleg across the creek. The trails are really nice with a long downhill in and easy uphill coming back out. If you start the figure 8 going clockwise the return has a pretty long burning uphill. Turn around and do it the other way and you'll have a good ride. Technical enough to enjoy the ride and keep your ears perked. This trail is great especially if you are stuck on the west side of Atlanta. BTW, aside from great trails the folks at the bike shop are outstanding. I had to have some work done on the SS before I went out and that was a really great bunch of folks to work with. They love what they do. I'd highly recommend a stop by there on your way.

Customer Service

Go in along the backside of the fence and ride clockwise, the figure 8 doesn't cross at an intersection so hang a left go around the curve and take a right, follow that all the way back to the fence and try turning around and do it CCW. Then you decide the best route!

Let me start by saying that i am the one that posted this trail. I am also one of the locals mentioned that works on the trails. i ride here a couple of times a week and we do night rides every now and then. The main trail is in good shape. the re routes and new sections are getting that way. As for distance, there is probably close to three miles of trails completed and we are adding more every day. The trails do not have a set direction or the best flow. What I mean by that is that there is a couple of places where you can go more than one direction but it is impossible to get lost. Everything ties back into the main trail. As I said we are working as fast as we can but we need more people to ride in the new sections. I would recomend this trail to anyone who is in the atlanta area and looking for something different (only 30 minutes from the city)

Customer Service

No set route YET. Ride till your tired. Ride it one way Then do it backwards.
