Road & Trail Cyclery - TRAIL

Road & Trail Cyclery - Trail, Covington/Oxford, Georgia

2 options, short course- tight, twisting singletrack, with lots of elevation changes (this is the layout used for the Chainbuster Challenge MTB race), long course- singletrack and fireroads, fast, feeds into short course, lot of wildlife, deer, wild turkeys, but no bear seen yet. Nice bike shop at start/finish with porch and rockers for after the ride.

Unfortunately this trail has closed, and I never had the pleasure to ride it.

This trail is a lot of fun for the technical singletrack fan. Didn't have any difficulty finding my way around until the end. (takes you right through someone's yard), but it turned out I was almost at the end anyway. I clocked just over 7 mi. once around. Nice bridges over the boggy stuff, and seemingly pretty well drained compared to Yellow River, although obviously not as crowded (a plus). Hooked up with a local for my second lap, and had a much easier time of it, although a certain rock garden seemed to get the best of me both times. Very tight twisties through pine forests were challenging to ride quickly , but good practice. Thanks for the tour Jerry!

I went clockwise, starting at the racetrack, but it looks fun either way.

Recently revisited this trail for the first time in'03. The changes are numerous and welcomed. I am a clydesdale and agree w/ an earlier review about not really being able to stretch your legs here. I enjoyed the new singletrack and look forward to making my annual trip to these trails. Thanks to whoever put all the sweat and tears into improving these trails and keep up the good work. Look forward to turning my 12 year old, 72 pound, single track eating machine of a son, loose on these new trails. He sure to put a hurtin' on the beginner class on this course.

Has lots of tought uphills towards the end. Other wise, just alot of short up's and downs. It is a very technical course {most technical I have ever rode} and mostly all singletrack. It has 4 to 8 miles long. There is no creek crossings. Has a couple of fast downhills.

I used to ride this trail religiously when I lived in Conyers before the Olympic trails came along. Virtually everyday during the week and at least one day on the weekend. This kind of behavior is not commonplace for me, usually I ride a trail 3 or 4 times and am ready to move on to another. Not so with this trail, it didn't seem to get old.
I rode the Olympic trails a good bit when they opened, but it beat the hell out of me on the granite sections, and much of it is out of tree cover, so in the summertime...you get the point.

This trail is Ok but it has my pet peave - too much winding around going nowhere. It is well groomed and marked.

Way, way, way out in the country from Atlanta is a nice little trail called Road and Trail Cyclery. Somehow I always seem to get there one day after it rains and get my butt kicked on the big climb when my wheels slog up with red Georgia clay and turn into circular butter. Other than that this trail is great if you're in the area. It's not quite as good as some of the Ga. mountain trails but there is a lot squeezed into a little space making for a worthwhile ride. The layout is for racing with lots of varied terrain, some good climbs, and quick descents. About 4 miles for the short loop, 4 more for the long. I-20 to Exit 46, go left 2.6 miles, look for sign.

Customer Service

Only one on the short loop - counterclockwise. Some options on the long loop, just follow your front wheel.

Let me say this, I loved the trail!! Lots of ups and downs. My girlfriend found one of the DOWNS in the creek bed. She ended up about 7 feet down, landed on a log at the bottom (on her hip) and the bike on top of her!! She finished the ride!! She hated it!! I loved it!! She will not go back!! I will!! Lot's of twisty single track and ups and downs. Be carefull around the creek (for all you women)! I've ridden the trails twice, once in late 1999 and once in June 2000. Trails seemed to chance a lot in that time. I think the owner made new trails. I enjoyed it and will be back when girlfriend gets better or when I find someone to ride with. Anybody want to ride? I'm a clydesdale 230+ in decent shape. e-mail me! I can ride afternoons and all weekend.
