Milton Woods - TRAIL

Milton Woods - Trail, Alpharetta, Georgia

NEW AREA NEEDING WORK! Unmaintained, possibly old abandoned bike trail. I am adding this trail area in hopes of sparking some interest in creating new trails. It is a great area for it. Found the area while walking my dog and returned on my bike the same day. The main trail follows the upper ridge line and rides like a FS RD but there are several spur paths off of it. I spent the better part of the day making some improvements to an older trail and basically exploring. This area has huge potential for some really great mountain biking with the area being mostly hardwood trees on hilly terrain on the west side of the ridge and soft pines on the other. The area is unlikely to be developed due its deep inner position between apartments and townhomes on Academy Street, businesses on Old Milton, and Hwy 400 so, hopefully, trail work won't be destroyed later.

Trails are still pretty new so some are kinda soft. The climbs can be a real leg burner the downhills are fast, windy, and fun. The trails form a four leaf clover with some in between that total about 2+ miles.

From Academy St., enter "Webb Bridge Crossing Apts" and park near bldg 5500. Go behind that building and enter the trail. Follow the main trail straight (climb along the shallow ridge) and at the top turn left or right. Both directions have decent downhills (still pretty new) that shoot between trees with some small jumps to take you back to the entrance.

Similar Products Used: An old road is at the top and can be followed to an area where it looks like trails once existed. The link by TFH is an aerial photo. The main trails are in the section to the left of the power lines (middle of pic) and the other area is to the right. As you can see the area is quite large and has great potential. Great job so far! Looking forward to more!!

Huge potential - nice piece of land for building trails along the ridge, although I am not sure who owns it.

As it is, I give this trail a rating of 1.5 to 2, but I would like to look into the possibility of developing this into a 4.

Customer Service

I entered through the bldg 5500 trailhead. This entrance invades the privacy of the people living in this building look for a more subtle alternate.
