Best xc trails in Florida, with Nayl's to Ern n' Burn, out and back. This is the most fun, flowy, and uninterrupted mountain bike enjoyment in the state. Great job OMBA! Best fun on 2 wheels and dirt, you will smile for miles.

Customer Service

From 49th st, Nayl's west, stop for a rest at 484 and cross the road for Ern' N' Burn. When you hit the end of Ern' n' Burn after the Ravine Chicane, where it connects with beyond and the yellow access trail to Ross Prairie, you can turn around and do Ern' n' Burn backwards to Nayl's East for a fast smooth cooldown. Canal Diggings at the end for a short fun challenge after you catch your breath. Approx 18 Miles.

The 49th Avenue trails are a part of the Santos trail system, maintained by the Ocala Mountain Bike Association volunteers (omba.org). These trails are mostly shady, flat, fast and twisty - good for an aerobic workout. Nayl's Trail is more of a roller coaster ride with some tricky technical spots.

See OMBA's new maps at http://omba.org/index.php/Maps.html, especially our new Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/omba-49th

Customer Service

The Land Bridge Trailhead is a good starting point for family-type rides: shaded picnic area, restrooms, easy trails close by, close to the scenic Land Bridge.

If you just want to do the harder trails, Nayl's and Canal Diggings, you might want to start from the 49th Avenue Trailhead.

The Santos Trailhead offers a wide variety of trails from easy to insane, a freeride area, dirt-jumps and 2 pump tracks.

A lot of work has been going on with the trail system, so almost all of the trails are in excellent riding shpe. the Ocala Mountain Bike Association along with OGT has been working very hard to maintain the trails. There is something for everyone at santos, from kids on training wheels to the extreme freeride guys, and all bikes in between.

We camped at santos and had a great time riding the newwork there. We met a dude from OMBA that told us to got to the 49th street TH and go under the bidge to the left then look to the right for nayls trail. YEAH BUDDY that trail is sweet. quite a bit of up and downs I didn't come across to much man made obsticles, but the natural terrain seems to be good enough. I will return as soon as possible!! Great Job OMBA and thank you Gary H.

This is a great trail for beginners as well as advanced riders. There is a little sand which can be frustrating at times, however, the trail on the West side of 49th is relatively sand free. There are a few hills, but most everyone will be able to get up staying on the saddle. There is nothing extremely challenging on this trail, it is simply a great ride.

Customer Service

From parking lot go out on lime rock road. Go left at next intersection which will take you under 49th. At the small message billboard go right to the bike trail. Stay right on the trail as you will be starting a true loop at this point. From this point you will have about 8.5+ miles of trails to ride. Once you get to the half way point in the loop, you will be at 484. This section of the trail is my favorite. It is much faster than the first section. You will be to the trailhead before you know it.

Excellent trail for the XC specialist. I like singletrack, but prefer the red trails and quarries at Santos, Markham Park in Miami, and Quiet Waters in Miami. These trails are great for those who want to ride a nice network of XC trails.

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Say it one time for me. I saw a five-footer lazing by the trail, scared the !@#^* out of me. As with the entire Santos and affiliated system, this trail has flow. Occasional sand, but not worth avoiding. Fast lines and some tricky dips and climbs. How do I buy OMBA some cold beers?

Customer Service

Out to the right, back on the new canal diggings trail, very sporty.

Again OMBA showed my Son and I a wonderful day riding in their paradise. We though Santos was one of kind. With occasional showers forcasted we headed from Orlando and were on sight in an hour in half. Of course Florida forcasters can never be trusted so off in the rain we rode. The hills at the front were great and sent my 12 yrd old to the ground right away. He loved it! The back trails to the landbridge we meandering trails that take you through a lot of different type of Environments. Palmettos, dense scrub oaks, Sand Hills, pine forests and live Oak clusters in the middle of open fields. The Pits were fun, we ran them over and over gaining our confidence and skill. This area is truly great. As I alluded Florida forcasters cannot predict weather, as we ventured back to the parking lot three hours later the rain was just starting to ease up and the sun started to shine. Even in Winter rain these trails provide smiles. We are coming back soon to tackle the other side of 49th.
