the clay pit in mount dora is a local thing, it was all we had untill there was a new trail which was built in july 2010. Its one mile long so far, with work still underway. Currently it has almost 200ft elevation gain,and the course speed record so far is 5:45. the official trail is yet to be completed, but the mile we do have is a complete loop,and is sort of technical, but mostley fast. it is extremely hot in the summer time so bring extra fluids, 20 times around in 2hrs is possible, but as of yet has not been done.

take 441 to lincoln street (lincoln from 441 is only one direction), take your first left,then left agian at 11th. park at the dog walking park, sorry there is no official adress, but if you have a gps type in icehouse theater mount dora fl 32757 and it will take you to 11th and you will see the dog park,park your vehicle then proceed by bike, throgh the end of the parking lot, straight throgh,down a big hill all the way till ya hit the bottom ,and take a left,the trail flows in a counter clockwise manner

I've been riding at this place for over five years and the only other people who ride here are 3 of my friends.This place is kick a$$ if your into riding super steeps and going off drops onto super steeps this is the place.There is so much you can do here you'll never do everything.Because it's always changin.
If your into trails riding this place would give you a hard on.I can't even begin to explain.Best bet is to play on everthing you see and work your way across the pit because the further you go into the pit the more you'll want to ride.Avoid this place during the middle of the day in summer,you will die.Go late in the day or early morning.Winter is the best time to ride.make sure you have tools,tubes and plenty of water,and a helment would be nice to if you want to get crazy.

If you want to have some real fun and get hooked on this come on a night ride on a full moon. It's so bright you don't need a light. Not even on the super steeps which happen to be 70+ft high and steep enough to scare the $h!t out of you.

This place is an odditiy in MTB. There are no real trails, just a bunch of extreme downhills, drops and semi-packed sand. The downhills are steep, full of soft sand and extremely hard to get to. I imagine this place would be awesome if it were a bit more groomed and hard packed.

In my opinion this is a place you have to ride once, but after that I can see it getting old quite quickly. I rode it on a saturday morning and didn't see a soul until two huge dumptrucks came hauling into the pit. They seemed interested in watching us bust our asses on the hills, but didn't seem to mind that we were there (we did stay way out of their way,and out of shouting distance)

This place requires a biker that is determined to ride extreme stuff, because you have to really want to go to push through all of the brush and crap to get to the downhills. If you can do that, bring a helmet, a life insurance policy, kiss all of your loved ones, and let it all hang out...
