Tillie K Fowler Regional Park - TRAIL

Tillie K Fowler Regional Park - Trail, Jacksonville, Florida

The south end of the park contains a small network of off road bike trails varying from beginner to advanced skill levels. The main loop is Whistling Kitty Chaser aka WKC, this is the beginner trail that is just over a mile. Branching off of WKC are the more advanced trails, these contain features from rollers and berms to steep ladder bridges. There are also multiuse trails on the northern parts of the property that are open to bikes but please be courteous and yield to people walking those trails. All of the bike trails are signed to indicate the required skill levels, please do not ride over your limits. Overall the park is a great place to take the family or go on a quick afterwork ride.

SORBAJax has taken ownership in the maintenance and construction of the trails and is continuing to improve the park. To get more information or a current map and find out about trail work days vist https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/sorbajax/.

Haven't been here in over a year and the trail is MUCH improved! Would have rated it about a 2-3/10 last time I rode it, now would give it a solid 5-6/10. Really nice features (wood/berm) built up now and the trail was flowing pretty nicely. I only live 10 minutes away, so it's definitely worth the drive, but if I was more than 30 minutes away I would likely check another trail out

Great updates and work guys! If you haven't been recently, definitely worth a quick 1 hour ride or so.

Road here for the first time today. Parked at the playground area and road down to the tower trail and island trail. I just moved to town from the north Georgia area and obviously you get spoiled up there with all the great trails. That being said, this is a solid, fun trail to ride for exercise and to keep your skills sharp. Aerobically not the most challenging but you can always do multiple loops! Most of the trail is tight single track with a lot of switch back turns and a few tricky areas. The advanced area on the "Off Road Mountain Bike Trail" is advanced! Its a short section but is not for the newbie.

Customer Service

Warm up with tower trail and island trail and then head up to the off road mountain bike trail near the park entrance. Don't forget to check out the view from the tower.

Rode this trail couple weeks ago, lack of starting point mark (i.e.- where trail begins to stay in synch with trail markers), good ride with tight turns clean trail, buried roots will come without notice wooohoooooo, has a old fire brick road (slick after rain), but allows for nice speed sprint, also has one quick and drop-down hill, trail is pretty well marked other than fore mentioned marker.......over all good ride to pump the blood.

Look for this to expand.

SorbaJax is working with the City and Navy to keep up the trails. Currently about 5.5 miles of approved trail. The Main biking trail is marked with red arrows. The Island Loop has been marked with real signs by the city.

Should be seeing some improvements to this park in 2012.

The trail has been cleaned, cleared and marked by the Boy Scouts. The markers are red bands around trees. The trail offers some small hills and minor elevation changes. There are a few jumps that have been built in the first 1/3 of the 1 1/2 mile loop. There have been some other trails made that are not marked but add to the fun of this park. I would like to see this become a more popular park.

Pretty flat non technical trail, but still pretty fun. It has a nice flow to it and is pretty fast. The aerobic effort is what you make of it. There are not too many roots or soft sand. (See other posts regarding night rides, which they still do have.)If you get creative with your course loop you can take advantage of some small ridges (maybe old train track bed?) that run through the main bike trail area. There are a couple of small logs to cross. The little bridges that are fun usually don't last long before they are removed. There are still some small double jumps in one area to play on if that's your thing; a little better for bmx bike I would think. The trails drain pretty well so are rideable after rain, but some of the boardwalks are as slick as ice when wet. Very rarely do I see other riders on the designated bike trails. Doesn't compare to Hanah park, but for something different or if you live in the area, it is worth checking out.

Customer Service

I usually ride the main bike trail (located a couple of hundred yards past the park entrance gate) in a clockwise loop. There is a big map sign at the trail head, but I have yet to figure out the loop that it shows. There are more trails down past the playground. The ones to the left (as you drive in) are good for children. The ones to the right of the road end are a little more advanced (marked with orange paint), similar to the trails close to the park entrance.

The trail is basically flat with a couple minor ups and downs that add a little excitement. It has good flow to keep your speed. Smooth ride overall. There is alot of potential for this place. A pefect spot to ride and maintain if you live in the immedeate area.

Despite the lack of mileage, this trail gained some local popularity last year with the unauthorized bridge obstacles. And like all good things, it came to an end.
It seems to have regained it's local popularity as a great night ride. There are a couple of groups that have scheduled night rides out there (usually near the monthly full moon). The wide trails and lack of technical difficulty makes it a fun ride for advance riders, but easy enough for beginners, depending on your speed (and your lights). The groups always wait for the slowest rider.

Customer Service

They park at the Winn-Dixie and take a trail down to the park. It was dark and there were a few trails I didn't recognize, so I played "Follow the Light in Front of Me," all night.
If your a beginner or want to familiarize yourself, some people ride it in the daylight before doing a night ride, but it's really not necessary.
Go to a local bike shop or e-mail someone with a Mtb. Club and they will invite ya out.
The best route on any night ride is 1st. right behind the person who knows the trails the best. 2nd. right behind the person with the best lights.

This trail is no more it has been bulldozed. Trails are still there but no trespassing signs have been posted. All jumps bridges teeters stunts etc.. have been removed this sucks Ive been riding these trails for over five years. Those trails were getting decent. There was a lot of building going on back in those woods towards the end of its life, oh well. Does anybody know of any drops jumps etc anything other than XC if so please contact me at kelliegoranflo@yahoo.com I have no place to ride now
