Kathryn Abby Hanna Park - TRAIL

Kathryn Abby Hanna Park - Trail, Jacksonville, Florida

Lots of singletrack through dense salt-marsh woods. Can be sandy during dry spells, but still lots of fun. Map of trails available at park entrance. Mostly flat,(its Florida remember) a few short climbs and descents. Trails for all skill levels

After reading the reviews, I find it hard to rate this park as good or bad, it's surely good for the beginner but for the seasoned cyclist they may find it a bit boring. We found it just perfect coming off a long hiatus from biking. Nothing too challenging here, there's really 2 areas to bike in, some smaller loops near the entrance and also one larger loop that goes around a few lakes, the campgrond, etc. We found the latter the better of the two liking the "twister" section the best because it was smooth and allowed more speed. If you like really technical rock gardens or very rooty rides this park isn't for you but if you want a work out or a ride that the entire family can enjoy near Jax it's a great park.

Similar Products Used: Fort Clinch, nicer camping area and a bit more challenging of a trail, more elevation deviations.

Excellent maritime forest ride. Lots of tight windy trail with a few small technical sections and a few small climbs. Good for a nice taste of easy-intermediate xc. Some roots can be intimidating, but they are sparse in their placement on the trail.

Great trails for all different skill levels, very scenic. Only bad parts are the roots and the spider webs. If you stay on the main loop around the lake it is mostly beginner and intermediate, but there are many interior trails that are unmarked and more challenging. There is a fun trick section located near the entrance.

Customer Service

Start at Twister and explore, but watch out for spider webs and soft sandy spots!

It's great to have an area with trails that are fun to ride, safe, somewhat challenging and maintained. The difficulty level is directly proportional to your speed. Families ride slower and seem to have fun. More serious riders travel faster and feel challenged. Remember: No mud + no blood = no fun.

Customer Service

I seem to always start with a warm-up on Twister, then follow all 6 trails around the back to Log Jam; then, 3 trails on the front, ending with Misery. Then we cross the street and do the Dead Dog, Long Trail, Drew's Trail, etc.

This was the first time I have ever ridden trails before. I didn't really know what to expect. The first trail that we rode was called misery. It had lots of roots and a good many hills. Me and my brother in law rode it the wrong way. Duh!!! It just took a few people coming at us to figure out we were going the wrong way. We then rode the twister. This is a really fast trail, not many roots, lots of twist and turns. The third trail we rode was the dead dog trail. This was alot tougher trail. I was wore completely out half way through. This trail was really tough some really big roots to jump over. We rode about 5.5 miles in less than two hours and my muscles are really starting to hurt now. For my first trail ride it was really fun. Can't wait to go back.

Customer Service

The twister for some fast fun.

This is a very tight set of trails. I have not ridden during wet conditions, but it is very sandy most of the time. You never really get going fast, and there are no hills. The workout comes from a steady, constant spin. Lots of riders, so be careful.

These trails are beginner to interm. although some sections are marked expert (they arent). It's best to ride after days of rain which will toughen up the sandy areas. Lots of turns and roots to ride over. The best thing about this place is that you can camp, ride, and walk to the beach in all the same area. Dogs are welcome in the park as well as on the beach...one of the few places in FL. It's not a place for hammerheads, but I love the whole atmosphere here.

My wife and I lived in Jacksonville for 1-1/2 years. Hanna Park was the best thing there. We would ride the trails until we were beat and then roamed out on the beach for a cool dip. Nothing like watching the sun go down while floating in the ocean, and no one on the beach but us. Try that at ANY other trail in Florida! We go back often to camp there, and it's still our favorite weekend escape. The trails are fine...plenty of stuff for every level of rider. Quite flat mostly, but cooler than most trails in Florida. (Ocean breeze)

Customer Service

East of Jacksonville on Naval Federal untouched land and ocean front!

Similar Products Used: Hardrock is awesome..excellent technical spots and single track runs where you can fly. There's an awesome canyon with hardrock riding all around it. A little piece of Arizona in the middle of Florida. Lots of great campgrounds all around. The forest is very thick all around the trails & some breath-taking trees that you MUST stop and just look at. It's O.K. to stop alot & look around. Alot nicer than racing back to your car.
