Wait a few weeks. The trails are still half covered in ice. It makes for some very sketchy descents, and some "difficult" climbs. Other than the snow, there's nothing very technical, it's just a fun, fast course.

Customer Service

I liked all of the intermediate trails there. THere are some blazing descents on the expert trails.

I base this review solely on riding it once in this past April's Smartcycle CT series race.

The course is moslty double-track cross-country skiing trails. There are some short short climbs, but they are generally void of rock, logs, roots.

The "technical" section of the race consisted of about 600' of off-camber pine-roots through a few mud puddles. As far a racing strategy goes, I found it was much quicker to cycle-cross dismount through this area (especially during the later laps), as slower riders tended to block the narrow trail when they dabbed. Plus and I was able to avoid adding pounds of mud to my relatively clean bike.

The plus to this area is that the trails are well-maintained and marked. The negative is that if you're looking for a technical ride, this is definately the wrong place for you. Also, I do believe there is a fee to use the trails, so check out the website above.

The only reason I could see riding here is for the race (which despite the lack of challenging terrain is a blast because there is a great turnout of good peeps and are plenty of opportunities to pass), or if you were introducing a cautious novice to the sport.

If you were looking to take a novice here, avoid paying the fee and go to West Hartford Res instead. Along with some pretty decent new stuff for you, there's plenty of fireroads there for them.

This is a great place to just go for a nice easy bike ride but if ur looking for some challenging riding dont come here, pretty smooth, wide trails. I if u do go, there are some trails that go onto avon old farms property, it is a pertty nice, not hard down hill run. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO IF U REALLY WANT TO RIDE!!!

This is an area for beginners - as mentioned previously there is little in the way of technical challenge here. It is mostly rolling singletrack through pine and oak forest with small hills which get you off your bike in a spot or two. A couple ponds and brooks, though pretty dry for the most part. More sand than I'd like, a few roots, no rocks. It takes less than an hour to do the perimeter, but there are another 2 or 3 hours of trails within, all interconnecting. Well marked and maintained. Not crowded (unless there's a race), presumably due to the $5 per person entry fee, which includes a map that you don't really need. Coupla vending machines. I'm a beginner and I'll be back, probably on a nice weekend day when I want to avoid crowds.

Customer Service

It is consistantly easy thruout.
