Osbornedale State Park - TRAIL

Osbornedale State Park - Trail, Derby, Connecticut

Deer, Turtles, Birds, Geese, Geese crap, chicks this place has everything, except of course insane free-ride trail that we are always looking for.. The park does have some cool trails though, some nice single track, some rocky sectioned double track, moderate-mild technicalities scattered throughout.. Some grassy field riding I could do without, reminds me of the sound of music or that silly 24 hour race in dalton.. Did find one 5 foot huck and 2 foot drop.. There is some limited free ride potential here, but dont go too far out of your way to ride here.. Be kind to the nature lovers and hikers here if you go.. Lots of bird watchers and such..

Overall good trail. A little hike-a-bike for the intermediate, perhaps a lot for a novice. Plenty of mix of smooth and technical riding. I rated technical difficulty a 3 because there were a few spots that pushed my limits although most of the trail is pretty smooth.

Customer Service

I tried the red blazes - it looped around the whole mountain. Good ride overall.

Hey Everyone. I just moved to the Osborndale area, these trails are about a 1/4 mile from my house and I would really like to get this place into shape. I know the trails aren't great but I think it has some potential. Like most places, it needs some creativity by some freeriders and cross country riders. I know it is state land and all, but it would be sweet to build some small ladders and bridges here and there and find some cool lines off of and over rocks. If anyone is interested in riding Osborndale or doing some work up there email me a phatveedub@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Ed

Actually a pretty cool place to ride. It really is one big hill in the middle, you pedal up from the parking lot and its all downhill to the river area from there. Lots of singletrack(used by derby h.s. cross country joggers) with fields and look for the rocks and walls to drop from! they are there, like the old foundation in the parking lot, or the grass jump by the lower pond.

Customer Service

trails run on either side of a brook and come to the lower ponds, at which point you can cross the road and ride in a small maze of trails down there also. check out the map on nemtb.com Park in the lot across from the high school.
