Deep River - Trail, Deep River, Connecticut

Deep River - Trail, Deep River, Connecticut

DESCRIPTION

This is one of my favorites. Many marked trails here, I dont know where to get a map but there should be one, i went there on Sunday and not a soul to be seen of course a given "good time" for my girlfriend and I, but these trails are awesome, some technical parts but nothing too extrenuous. I talso think its cool that you can hear the historix Essex Steam Train tootn' every hour or so. I like this one. Leads to the Conn. River. This trail is basicly in the forest.

I have ridden all kinds of trails around the country. This isnt the most challenging, but if you ride some of the bridges and planks and try not to dab anywhere, its alot of fun.The down hills at Castle Rock and the last two on the way out are an absolute blast and anyone else that has ridden this place with me agrees that its no Arcadia or West woods but its fun. It's a little like Bluff Point .The rout I described is the perimeter of the entire space. There are a few trails connecting the two and you can loop and doubble back to make a longer ride of it.Keep in mind that there are signs posted "NO BIKES" and the people walking in the trails may be an uptight retirees that will remind you of this,However they never have their dogs on leash even though the sighs also read "PETS MUST BE ON LEASH".Most other people (if you see any at all) will not mind a biker in there .not quit a beginner trail and not an expert trail.

Enter by crossing the rail road tracks in the back of the condos. There is an evil dog that lurks around the parking lot across from the Quickie Mart.I usually stay to my left once I'm in the woods.Over the logs and around a big rock.Keep climbing until you reach a trail marker i.e. a map stand.bear left and follow that trail to a stream crossing.Ride the skinny and keep climbing.Bear left and keep climbing past the stone wall and over the dubble log.when you reach a fork,I usually bear right and then take the next right.Over the rock wall and mak the first left.past the stone wall and right at the cross road.Follow this untill he first right just after a stone wall.Next fork go right. This takes you to Castle Rock.A short steep climb with rocks and ruts.Once at the top,go down to the left and a sharp right at the bottom of the first hill.Left down again.Next intersection go right and cross the bridge. Now you should be on the blue trail.Follow this past the big old tree and make and make a left at the next intersection.Go up over the bridge and follow this trail turn at the next right.follow this to the sharp left and over the log until the next intersection.Go left.(this will be familliar).make the next right and follow this straight and down.Left at the next intersection and down over the logs and down some more.Left at the next intersection and out across the rail road tracks.
