Pattaconk Trails - Trail, Chester, Connecticut

DESCRIPTION

Tons of riding here. Mostly singletrack. Trails around lake are very tech, some spots unridalbe but lead to some Great singletrack riding behind the pond. A good way into this section is on the wooded side of the damn to get there roll down the road you came in on and take yor 1st left up towrds the damn. the trail splits right take you around the pond (tough) left takes up to a nice long not steep climb. they bolth get you to more good riding. all comes out on the state forest road and will take you back to the main lots. If you take trails heading away from pond your in for real technical, with many unridable spots, real old school riding, You could also encounter some enduro motocross riders back there, but the trails are great fun if your in the mood for a real challange. Stick to trails you can get easly lostback there.

This trail goes all around the lake. Technical single and dualtrack. Awesome trail. Rivals Westwoods as best trails in CT. Some water bars across trails. Another great trail here is found by entering the parking lot on the left-hand side. At the back corner, there's a trail entrance to a fast, rocky downhill that winds for about 3/4 of a mile. Once you get to the road, go right and another trail entance is on the left a little way down.

Customer Service

follow the access road up past the two parking lots. Ride up the hill about 1/2 mile and trail entrance will be on right.

I was sent to the park by guys at a bike shop in Westbrook and it was everything and more. Good Climbs,
rocky, very muddy, (the pond was over the banks, the trail was flooded) streams and single track. I did not have much time to ride (only 2 hours) but I look forward to going back with someone who knows the trail.

Customer Service

I don't think I could find it again.

Everything I'd read before going in said great riding but easy to get lost??? I thought the trails were blazed well for easy navigation. Seems as though it gets enough riders to sustain well worn signs of life everywhere we went. We did encounter a few "unridable" sections but the place rocked none the less! Cannot wait to go back:-)

Customer Service

Plenty of choices from what I could see. Being my first time there, we followed the recommendation of a fellow reviewer. I was totally impressed with the variety of terrain. Great mix up of fire road, real sketchy single track, and a few climbs and downhills to boot.

These trails are some of the best I've been on in CT. In a single loop, you get high-speed rollers, gnarly baby-head fields, log bridges, ladder bridges and super fun down hills... oh yeah, and the mini-climbs are amusing too! Not only is the riding sick, I have yet to see another soul out at the farther corners of the park! Trail maps are readily availiable on the web, just bring a copass and you're set..unless you end up riding with Rene and Dave, they're regular blood hounds. I suppose any one can ride here, but the better you are, the more you'll get to explore the real goods.

From the top right lot, drop in at the far left corner and follow the blue blaze (bikes are allowed here) to the right, cross the river and conect with the red blazed trail... the yellow blaze...red in blue...its all good!

Middlesex isn't far, and is just as fun owing to its killer tech level. Super fun rock ledges and walls, off-camber roots...tasty! Now, if there were just some climbs!

I actually ride here over once a week, and i'd do it more if i could. Right in town, and the trails are awesome. great practice for any beginners

Customer Service

Start from the lake and take the around-the-lake route-just go down that single trail and turn right at the fork. Go past the campsite up the hill, and take a right onto the red trail-sweet downhill. go up the hill and you're back where u started.
