Very efficient switchbacks lead to a knife edge descent that is narrow and seems to go forever. Very buff for the most part. Some loose climbing towards the middle and a moon scape section that sits beside the scrub oak and flower you ride through. Great twisty downs to the ranch at the end towards the bottom of brush creek road.

It's probably the smoothest trail in Colorado. If you're thinking classic Colorado scenery, forget about it. This is a dry, mostly tree-free trail lacking good views. A fairly non-technical climb with many switchbacks to the Yin Yang. Whatever you do, don't get talked into going back down the trail the way you came - you'll miss the best part. Continue on a mostly smooth downhill until a genuinely gut-busting climb that mercifully ends before it get too ugly. You're rewarded with an unbelievably smooth, fast and neverending downhill to the bottom of Snowmass. At one point, you'll cross Michael Douglas' driveway - try to sneak a peek at Katherine Zeta Jones.

Customer Service

Time it so you can catch the free bus shuttle back up the hill to the trailhead. The bus seems to come by at about 10 minutes after the hour during the fair weather months.

Awsome ride! Just here for a conference and I am glad I had time for this trail. One of the best rides I've done. Nice switchback climbing at the beginning then some really fun singletrack downhill. Followed by the north portion with a heck of a climb but well worth it as you are rewarded with a sweet long flowing dcownhill singletrack to the end. I did not find any of it too be all that technical.

Customer Service

Start at Parking lot level 1 (next to Stonebridge Inn) Ride across the bridge at the end of the parking lot. Turn up the parking lot to the intersection - trailhead is across the street. Back using the roads to th e parking lot.

Not from here so hard to say - wanted badly to do Gov't trail but could not work it in. I did ride the paved Glenwwod Canyon trail - nice scenery and a fast 32 mile ride.

This trail is a must if you're in Snowmass. It was recommended by one of the bike patrollers on the ski area and I'm glad I took him up on it. Some of the smoothest, funnest singletrack in the state-- you could ride it on a fully rigid bike and have a blast. Off Devide Rd near the Village Mall, climb up the switchbacks to the top of the ridge and go left 100 yards to an obvious overlook. Here there are stellar views 360 degrees around, and great views of the valley below. Head north for a steady descent along the ridge for a few miles and cross Sinclair Rd. Keep heading north for a few more, up a couple grinder climbs, and the trail starts to head northeast. Here you're treated to a sweet sweet downhill-- smooth, windy singletrack all the way to the bottom. Take the bike path east for a half mile or so down to Brush Creek Rd.

Customer Service

From here I recommend going left on Brush Creek Rd, then right on Highline Rd and pick up Highline Trail. Follow this to the end and cross Owl Creek bike path and pick up Tom Blake Trail which is an awesome singletrack climb/traverse back to the ski area. This eliminates having to climb up Brush Creek Rd all the way back to the Village. It's a great 2.5 hour loop at a moderate pace and all the trails in the area are very well marked at all intersections-- you couldn't try to get lost.

Fun trail to bomb down short fifteen minute clibm to the to for a good biker. maybe longer for others. most of the trail is meant for advanced bikers. a little technical in some spots.

Customer Service

Follow the trail(more advanced riders take the old cut)the old cut has steeper longer downhills that the new trail goes around.

This is a great after work ride or the warm up for a 30 mile plus day in Snowmass. On the short program, I usually park at the fire house and spin up the paved bike path along Brush Creek to the trailhead. The climb is designer with 16 switchbacks perfectly laid out. At the top of the climb, be sure to detour due south a couple hundred yards to "The UFO Landing Site". This is reputed to be the exact spot that Little Jelly was abducted from and experimented on by aliens. Head north along the rim for some of the most epic, buff singletrack in Colorado. When you get to a road, the trail crosses, climbs, and then goes off again for a couple more miles. It's a short, obvious spin from here back to your car. Bring a dry pair of pants to change into; you'll need 'em.
