Buffer Creek Trail - TRAIL

Buffer Creek Trail - Trail, Vail, Colorado

The trail is very fun. It is fast, technical in some spots and almost all downhill. Small drops on the swichbacks, loose rocks etc...

We normally do it as a climb after first starting out from the North Trail parking lot . Ridden as such it is called "Suffehr". From there we climb around Lost Lake, and descend either Son of Middle Creek or Spraddle Creek. Somewhat big ride. I can't believe all the east slopers complaining. It's a pretty good trail that accesses a lot of other higher up terrain. Its a must for us a few times a year after the Elk calving season has ended.

The first portion of this trail includes some fun double and singletrack through stands of aspen. As you begin to crest the ridge and descend the southern face, the trail becomes a steep eroded series of switchbacks. Your seat should be somewhere up around your chin for this stretch. This is a highly technical section. I am not a huge fan of the trail overall, but it's worth checking out if you're bored with some of Vail's better singletrack offerings.
