I've done this trail probably 3 times total. Its a nice ride to do with your family or even by yourself, push yourself to do it quicker each time. I get a great workout starting at orchard mesa. This trail deserves more than 2 stars in my opinion

The River Trail is great when the Lunch Loop and Kokepelli dirt is wet and/or frozen. Just to get out and spin. Also used by hikers and dog walkers but wide enough for all. The twisty sections by Connected lakes are nicely shaded for the hot summer months and there are some singletrack spur cuts. You can get 8 to 10 miles in pretty quick, and see some people. It is also right in town.

This was a great start for my girl who has never really ridden a mountion bike. Lots of shade. It is paved so it takes a mental edge off so we could go through the gears and braking. The return is a nice little climb that enabled her to prove to herself she could manage. There are cute little off shoots that kept me entertained and allowed me to stay close. Mountion lions have been sighted recently in the area so be ready to throw your bike at one. Lots of bunnys squirls and we even saw a deer that let us stop and gaze not fifty yards away.

Find redlands parkway off I-70, turn on South Rim and the trailhead is by a pond on the left. Look for the connected lakes trails. Be kind to walkers.
