silver creek trail - TRAIL

silver creek trail - Trail, Georgetown, Colorado

Single track. If you know where the Handicamp is in proximity to the trail, then yo ucan take the hidden stream trail down the the board walk, to get to lawson, just keep on truckin down the single track, you will be above I-70, and yo uwill be able to know when youve gone too far. dont come down off the trail until the stream or the road, this trail goes right above my backyard and many others.

As was reported in the other reviews, the exposure can be tricky. None of the technical areas were that difficult, but their placement near a cliff's edge did not allow for any error at all. Since this was my first try, I walked several areas.

Customer Service

Apparently it can be ridden up to from the Easter Seals camp, but we started out from the Saxon Mountain Rd lot.

Not an epic ride but it lots of fun. Mostly flat with a slight grade up going east. 10 miles out 'n back, starting in Georgetown. Re-built by a guy named "Smedley", and his crew. The trail orginally was built to haul silver ore (by mule) to Georgetown for smelting, from the now deserted mining town of Silver City up high in the mtns. Incredible engineering for 100+ years ago. Nice single track, but scary spots overlooking cliffs. When you reach the trail end at the road, ride up a half mile and see where the old town was. Not much left, but it's easy to see where it was. Now it's mostly a playground for motor-heads.

Customer Service

Start in Georgetown, go back east, high above I-70. Come back the same way. It's hard to explain how to get to the trailhead, but ask someone in town for the directions to "Silver Creek trail". It's down some guys driveway, and high above the lake.

Dont ride like a jack ass on the trail, theres some spots that if you go off, youll stay gone off, they are literally vertical and rock, but this trail has its fun and technical sections, somthing for every one.

Customer Service

oh yea, if you know where to handi camp is, becarful you dont get caught, the board walk is for handicapped only, but its fun to ride when no ones around.
