This trail is great! Rode it from Breck to Frisco which has a longer downhill. From Peak 7 in Breck it starts with a climb through the pines and bordering a creek for what I believe is a little over a mile, opening to a meadow with tons of wild flowers and great views. Right after it goes back into the trees for a long downhill all the way to a lake and then Frisco. This trail is not a technical 5 or an aerobic 5 but it is a great trail to ride as you get a bit of everything, climbs, downhills, vistas and overal awesomeness.

Customer Service

Start at the trailhead near Peak 7 in Breck for alonger downhill. If you prefer climbs (at altitude). then ride it from Frisco.

This is absolutely a wonderful ride. I rode this "loop" in June of 04 and I have to tell you this is truly a fun wonderful cross country ride. It's of course much easier from Breck to Frisco if you feel you're not up to it :) With a complement of single track wood bridges streams, rock descents, heavy/light wooded areas, this ride has everything. This is truly my favorite ride of anywhere I have been. This is of course arguable. The well marked path and well maintained trail makes it a simple trail to navigate. When I rode this trail we left from Breck and descended to Frisco...don't call me a wimp just yet, I then met the family and hauled two of the kids back to Breckenridge (100+ pounds) in a still wind and heavy rain. You can call me a bad father but not a wimp ;) My rating are from Breck to Frisco which would be much differenct from Frisco to Breck.

This is a great trail. One of the best in the Summit County area. It is all downhill form Breckenridge and all uphill from frisco. There are a few technical parts, but it is a great ride in the forest and the views of the 10 Mile Mountain range are great. The season is short though because it is above 9000 feet and there is snow on it in May.

Customer Service

From Breckenridge go to Peak 8 of the Sik area and follow a dirt road that winds up behind the area. This leads to the trailhead. From Frisco, go behind the county commons to get to the trailhead or ask at Great Adventure bike shop in Breckenridge.

This is probably one of the most beautiful/fun trails I've ever ridden in any state, and I've ridden some great trails in quite a few states! Peaks Trail works its way through Pine forests and Aspen groves, as well as offering some occasional scenic views of mountain peaks and fields of wildflowers, etc...The trail climbs steadily for the first 3 or so miles, with some moderately technical but short sections over roots and rocks every now and then...you will be paralleling Miner's Creek for much of this stretch, which only makes it that much more scenic...The trail then feels like it flattens out for the next several miles, although you are still gradually climbing. The last mile or two again has some fairly short but steeper climbs (though handled by most intermediate/advanced riders), and again has some moderately technical but short sections over rocks and roots.

A lot of work has apparently been done to this trail over the last several years, with bridges built over most of the numerous stream crossings. If you are going to be in Summit County, this is a "must" ride! The route back on this out-and-back trail (from Breckenride to Frisco) is particularly awesome, since it is mostly downhill for 9 miles! Keep in mind, though, that you'll find this trail somewhat exhausting if you have not yet acclimated to the elevation...Food/water are available at both ends of the trail which is also a plus, and it is well marked with light-blue diamond blazes...

Customer Service

If you start in Frisco, expect a moderate climb for 9 miles from about 8500ft to 10,500ft - probably taking you 1 1/2 to 2 hours one-way on this out-and-back trail...the return route from Breckenridge will obviously be a lot shorter/faster....

i really enjoyed this trail...did it on a weekend on borrowed bike (piece o' crap) and had a great time. Lots of variation: small & large rocks, roots, loose dirt, hard pack, single track (almost) and wide open. What I really enjoyed is that the terrain may be really challenging for a while then it evens out and gives u a rest. Not to mention a few breathtaking views. Wish I brought a camera...As a general rule most people were very friendly and considerate always saying Hi, letting u know how many other riders still coming, and checking if u need any help if u stop, except for (very) few inconsiderate dh speed demons. The trail was also pretty well protected from the sun most of the way. Going up was challenging and fun for most levels and coming was a scream! You really know how to make a trail in Summit.

Lots of fun, really nice people. Road with 2 others 'up' the trail, and there were no close calls. Nice climb with several pretty steep sections, but nothing impassible. After 5-6 miles, it levels out nicely, providing a rest, and some fun level single track sections. Bridges are provided for the stream and 'swamp' crossings, with only one wet section. Keep going on the trail, and you come out at the base of Breck. Ride down into town and grab a bit to eat. Ride the paved trail back if it is too late or you are too tired. Nice cool down ride. From Dillion Marina, about 35 miles total with about 10-11 being the 'Peaks' portion when picked up from Miners Creek.
I am not in 'awesome' shape, but it was still a fun ride. Walked a couple of sections that I was too tired to ride up or were too tough. Another rider in our group was on his 3rd MTB ride ever, and he did just fine. Have a good ride!

well, coming from illinois, it seems that almost any trail in colorado is kick ass. on our week vacation to frisco this was probably my favorite trail we did. and id rank it as one of the most enjoyable rides ive ever done. its challenging, but totally worth it once your done. we went from frisco to breck, then took the bike path back, which was very convenient because the only way we knew how to get back to the trail from breckenridge was to go up and up and up the road which seemed to take forever just to go down. oh well, i guess the altitude was getting to us. bring some money so that when you get to either frisco or breckenridge you can stop for some real food.

Customer Service

from breck to frisco, and vis versa, i guess?
