Zoom Trail - Trail, Fraser, Colorado

Zoom Trail - Trail, Fraser, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

the trail is fast and exciting. If you use your brakes at all you are killing the ride. Sit back hang on and look out for the Bull Moose that I ran into.

Well zoom vroom vroom, this is one of literally thousands in the grand county area but it is just a flat out blast to ride. I ride the XC race series in winter park and there are a ton of trails in the are, the point to point race goes through zoom and its my favorite because I can almost always just rail it on the way down. (I am a lousy DHer) If you want a trail that you can just fly down despite your ability this is it.

Customer Service

I don't know where I am going, I put my tire in the dirt and let it roll.

This is an awesome little candy track through a lodgepole pine forest. For those of you who haven't ridden through lodgepole, it's a treat because of the smootheness and the etheric, peaceful vibe. Due to the dearth of single track in the area, it's like a breath of fresh air. If you do nothing else in Winter Park, do this trail.

Customer Service

There's a whole network of trails here and their all good, though not much single track. Plan your route so that you ride a logging rode for the uphill and hit the zoom on the downhill.

The Fraser valley is one of the most scenic areas within 90 minutes of Denver. Unfortunately, most of the mountain biking is logging roads, which makes the drive hard to justify if you're a single track junkie.

Zoom is one of many trails you can link togther in the area, including Chainsaw, Creekside, Flume, Twin Bridges ... you get the idea. Ride DOWN Zoom for a fun fast decent. That mean paying your dues on the road climbing to the trailhead.

Customer Service

Like above, or take forest service road from either Safeway or St Louis Creek Camp ground to the top.

As soon as you start on this trail it's a fast, wide, long downhill with a couple of technical sections (mainly ruts and washes). This trail connects to the Chainsaw trail at the bottom. Since most of the trails in the Fraser Valley are approximately two to six miles in length and connect to a couple of common forest roads, it's easy to piece together an easy six miler or an epic thirty plus mile ride without touching the same piece of dirt twice. Carry a map and a jacket. Enjoy. It's a classic.

From the bottom of Tipperary Creek trail go across the fire road towards the Flume trailhead - keep going up the fire road. It's a gradual climb and should be no problem for beginners with moderate fitness. The trailhead's about three miles up on the left. From Winter Park you can access this trail by heading up Vasquez Creek and climbing up to the top of Elk Creek road.

Stop at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, Powder Tools or Ski Depot and buy a copy of DIRT GUIDE. Check off the rides one by one. It's all good.

One of the best loops in the valley. Cross the bridge over the creek and start up Flume, which is a nice rolling trail until you hit 159 where you'll go left. Be prepared for good climb that lasts a couple miles. At the top of the hill you'll see a wooden fence on your left, and so begins zoom. sit back, lay off the brakes and have yourself a rolling good time. *****. Down zoom till you hit chainsaw (hard left), which is a great rolling trail that leads you back to creekside and the starting point.
