Alderfer Three Sisters Park - Trail, Evergreen, Colorado

Alderfer Three Sisters Park - Trail, Evergreen, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

Multiple trails forming two main loops. Mostly smooth singletrack with some rock sections. Ponderosa and Silver Fox are fun but stay away from this park on the weekends unless you plan to go early in the morning.

I'm being a little generous with the 3-point review since I didn't get to ride the whole park. I was almost to the Summit Trail from the parking lot clockwise when a storm turned me around so I backtracked there instead of finishing the Evergreen West Mountain Trail. For the north side of the road I also rode clockwise on the outer perimeter to Bearberry, over the technical portion of the Sisters Trail & back out to the lot. It wound up being about 8 miles total.

The reason I'm not saving this review until I can ride the rest is that I'm not sure that I'm going to bother making a special trip just to complete the West trail.

While the trail system does offer some challenging climbs & fun downhills and certainly has a little something for everyone, it's missing one critical element. Flow. This trail has no flow to it. It's a good workout for the most part but rates low on the grin factor all things considered.

The 3-rating for the technical aspects should be considered an average. There's some really easy stuff, some moderate stuff, & some hard stuff. That steep portion of the Sisters Trail is kinda burly, but everything else was manageable.

Customer Service

I rode clockwise and wasn't really that impressed considering some of the other trails in the area. I talked with a ranger for a while who said he liked to ride it counterclockwise.

The only section of this trail worth riding is to climb east evergreen trail, turn around, descend back the way you came.

Ponderosa is somewhat technical.
If you take mtn muhly trail CW, you quickly hit a gate and the "trail" becomes a private road. It's listed on the map, but the "KEEP OUT/ PRIVATE PROPERTY" signs kept me away.

I took bearberry (somewhat technical) to the 3 sisters loop OMFG what a sorry excuse for a trail. It's clearly not designed for mountain biking, has some very rocky areas right at hairpin turns, TONS of waterbars/logs across the trail and some super right areas that you're going to scrape bike or body on.

CONS: anti-erosion logs every 50 ft that ruin the climbs and descents.

the whole 3 sisters half and all the trails north of buffalo park road SUCK. They're just bouldering access trails.

The trails range from boring double track & fire roads, to nearly unrideable 3 sisters).

Way, way too short.

Way too close to buffalo creek to choose this mediocre mess of trails.

PRO's: E. evergreen mtn trail is an ok climb : descent.

It's alright if this trail is in your neighborhood, but totally not worth driving an hour to.

Customer Service

Climb east evergreen, turn around and go back down. That's the only worthwhile trail, and it's only a few miles long.

This is a great park. Has something for all levels of riders. I like to start in Dedisse Park ride the Dedisse trail over to three sisters and make my way to the summit of Evergreen Mtn decend down East Evergreen Mtn Trail for some fun high speed action then back to Dedisse hitting trails in 3 sisters along the way. If you are up for a longer ride, I like to ride up to Bergen from Dedisse and then up my previous route back to Dedisse.

Customer Service

There are too many to mention. You can ride around all day at this park there are so many trails.

Got to ride through 3 sisters on Memorial Day, 2011. Busy in the parking lot, plenty of time to myself once I got on the trail. Occasionally stopping for the avid cyclist bombing downhill, I found myself continually impressed by this trail. I can honestly say I hadn't mountain biked in Colorado until I did this trail, it sums up everything that the front range has to offer in terms of flowy singletrack.

Customer Service

Head straight for the summit, then bomb down to the Bearberry trail and check out some gorgeous mountain meadows.

Great singletrack with some technical sections, but most have alt routes you can take to tone ride down. Fun does not begin to describe this trail. Water bars and rocks add some difficulty but nothing too knarly. Switchbacks bigtime back down.

Customer Service

We started at the high trailhead and rode CW I believe.

First date. This trail was nice. I was alittle challenging. I think what kept my attention was the story she told me about the Cougar. I couldn't focus so much beciase of that. Once at the top the view was nice.

Fun trail for the mornings. Don't even try to do Evergreen Mtn. on the weekends after about 10, it gets packed very fast. Evergreen Mtn. is a fairly easy climb up, and a fun, flowy downhill section on the east side. Allow about an hour to 1.5 hours if parked at lower lot.

Customer Service

Park at bottom lot on north side of Buffalo Park, cross street to the Evergreen mtn. east trail. Ride that up to the meadow at the top (riding parallel to road). Head up Evergreen Mtn. west all the way to the top. Don't stop at the junction, the top isn't far from there and is well worth it. Once at the top, take Evergreen Mtn trail East all the way to the lower lot, it's a fast, fun downhill

I really love this trail. I agree with the last review. This trail can be technical depending on the route you take. When you come down the Sisters trail some of the switch backs envolved are very tight. There are also some sections of this trail that requires a ride over three to four foot rocks or small cliffs. This trail is not technical if you stick to some of the extremity trails. A friend of mine and myself did this loop three time today we were having so much fun.

Customer Service

From the parking lot on Buffalo Park Road, take the sisters trail up a little ways, hang a left on Ponderosa trail, hang a right on Sister trail and loop back to the Ponderosa trail. Repeat several times. This loop only takes a little while but it is a blast.

I keep reading that this trail is for beginner to intermediate riders only ... well, I disagree. I don't think that these people have taken the "Sisters Trail". This trail is immensely technical if you start from the lower parking lot and do the Sisters Trail loop. You'll definitely get an anaerobic workout in this trail loop with all the rocks, roots, waterbars, and technical switchbacks during climbs. Overall, Alderfer/3 Sisters has a little bit of everything. Not only does it have the technical Sisters Trail, but it also has the East and West Evergreen trails that you can take to the top for a nice, steady climb that is technical in spots. I believe that 3 Sisters has sections for all levels, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert rider. I would not consider my self an expert rider, but I am definitely a strong intermediate with knowledge enough to know that the previous reviewers must not have ridden the Sisters Trail itself.

Customer Service

From the lower lot, climb the Sisters Trail and then explore the area. Check out Brothers, Ponderosa, Hidden Fawn, and the others. Then make your way across the street for a long-ish climb up the West or East Evergreen Trail all the way to the top for a fantastic view and a moderately aerobic workout.

good trail all things considered. all the different trails can be ridden in one day. there is a new trail spur that few people know about. (I hope I'm letting the cat out of the bag) It's called Dedisse Trail. It climbs a good 800-1000 ft. or so it feels like. What I do know is park in Dedisse Park which is about 1 mile north of Evergreen lake and then grab the single track from there. It will drop down on to the road by the golf course then start climbing next to the course. it gets pretty steep but butter smooth. about 2 mile sinto the climb it connects with Hiden Fawn trail on the north-east side of 3 sisters park.

Customer Service

Start in Dedisse Park, climb to Hidden Fawn Trail, clockwise. Then onto more climbing at Evergreen mtn. Trail West. At this point, drop down or continue to climb to Summit trail. from here pick and chose the downhill but lookout for hikers!~ MAP! http://www.jeffco.us/ext/dpt/comm_res/openspac/images/aldermp.pdf
