Garden of Gods - Trail, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Garden of Gods - Trail, Colorado Springs, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

Another training grounds. Moderate uphill and downhill with some challenging switchbacks. Good aerobic and fun ride. Nothing too challenging, but definately one of the prettier places to ride in Springs. Good place to go if you want to put in a quick ride.

Garden of the Gods is a beautiful city park with limited bike access. Most of the park is reserved for hiking and horse use. Even though mountain bikers still ride through out the park it is illegal and enforced. The summer months bring high level of tourist to the park making even the basic rides not much fun. I would recommend visiting the park but ride else where. With Ute park to the North and red rocks to the South and both very friendly for biking I don't see why anyone rides here. Also Palmer park is in the middle of the city and has great quality trails.

Another fine example of mountain bikes being banned from the few decent trail in the park, although they are still torn up by a variety of other *&#^%@ users.
The designated MTB trails closely resemble the deadly sand pit in "Return of the Jedi." If you were thinking about G of the G, maybe you should sit at home and watch a movie instead of trying to be seen by the gzbillions of tourists, eh?

Customer Service

The hiker only trails.

This trail is only good if you want to ride fsat and you have no technical skills what so ever. I would rather ride on the road than on these trails. Great rock climbing though.

These trails are only good for riding fast, just like the other reviews say. They are not technical, as all of the good trails on the west side of the park are limited to hiker and horse use, the later of which tears up the trail worse than our bikes do. Good for a workout, but that's all.

Customer Service

Just pick a trail - any trail - they're pretty much all the same...

I saw the map online online for this trail. Now I know why they did not include milage. It did not say that the map on your computer is actual size.
Seriously, unless you live a couple of blocks away, this trail is not worth the trouble.

Customer Service

Not much to recommend, they only give you a 'kiddie area' to play in.

Plan on going to Garden of the Gods to look around. There isn't really much in the way of bike trails. (Just the little 5 acre patch I mentioned above)
The only reason I use this area is because I work right around the corner from it and sometimes only have about 30 or 40 minutes to cram in a little lunch time "quickie" :-D
Do not plan on a day of biking here. It is intended for people in cars and such and it will most likely bore the daylights out of you.

Customer Service

When you go in the main entrance go off the road to the left. There is a little spot to play around in. Otherwise, your only other option is to ride on the road...

this is the worst place to ride ever, i advise against riding in the little playpark they have to offer. The only place worthy of riding in the garden is on the hiker trails. Some can have fun, short, downhill segments but bikes are not allowed and this is enforced by horse cops. Lastly, stupid horses tear up every trail out there so they are sandy, loose, wide, and bad. I live right in the garden so that is often better to ride than not riding at all. It is definately not hard, and if you are a road biker, not only are you on the wrong website, but you might have fun on the curvy roads. Otherwise, stay out of this area unless you dont want to have any fun

I cannot believe all of the negativity here. I just moved to the area (from Nashville) and rode from my house to Garden of the Gods to ride the trails. I'll admit that I was a little disappointed in the amount of trails available, considering the size of the park, but what little there was, I enjoyed. BE HAPPY that they are there -- in Nashville, there was only one place within the city to ride (it was a good, tough ride) and another HUGE park that didn't allow mountain bikers at all (but plenty of horse and running trails). ANY PLACE to ride is a good place to ride, so buck up and make peace with the trails.

Garden of the Gods is not, by any means, a GREAT place to ride, but it is a good place to rideespecially if you have limited time and just enjoy being on a trail -- be that trail sand, mud, slick rock or roots -- and just want to get outside. If you get bored easily, ride the complete set of trails once, then ride them all in reverse -- and for crying out loud, stop once in a while and take in the scenery...you never know what you might see.

Every which way you can...
