Basalt Mtn. - TRAIL

Basalt Mtn. - Trail, Basalt/El Jebel, Colorado

Three miles of gravel road to single track #2 or Middle Loop. Continue to top of Basalt Mtn. to the Big Loop down to Cattle Creek. Middle Loop is great single track all rideable. Big Loop from top is sweet single track with some technical rock sections and switchbacks.

This is my favorite trail. Six miles of fire road climbing with an altitude gain of around 3k ft. Then 8 or 9 miles of single track that ends in a screaming 4 mile downhill. Rocky and technical in sections. Log drops and smoothe forest trail in others. Great views, and photo ops.

Drive past the pond and park in the parking area. Ride uphill from there. There are three drop in sites. One at 1.8 miles up, one at 4 miles up and the top. If the snow's off, I recomend the top. Go through the gate and hit the single track. Could be wet and or snow covered pre-July, so be careful. When you get to the road at the bottom, go left. It'll take you back to the parking area.
