Gypsy - TRAIL

Gypsy - Trail, Truckee, California

A rocky, technical, downhill trail that requires good skill, and control of your bike. Big berms and flowy tabletop, step-down, and double jumps smoothly lead you to high speed descents with super techy rock gardens that vary from 1 to 40% in grade and drops up to 5 feet that can be hit at speed. No hiking. Rare pedaling needed. Full suspension bicycles recommended.

A very technical trail. Gypsy is my favorite overall in Northstar because of the speed you can get throughout it. Don't get me wrong, Boondocks is amazing and has it's fast points, but gypsy is fast all around. And with super technical rock gardens some big doubles and some drops it is not all a boring downhill trail, theres things thrown in. The last big step-down is a blast and depending on how fast you hit it out of the amazingly fast concrete berms you can easily get about 25 feet of air. The steep rocky section before the last two concrete berms is my favorite on the whole trail to bomb down but I could see how if your bike was less than 6 or 7 [I have 7] inches of travel that could be rather painful and a borderline loss of control. Watch out for newbies and take it slow the first time. After that bomb it like no other because there is nothing on that trail that you need to go slow for.

Customer Service

Off the 6 person lift, to the right onto the fireroad that passes the Livewire trailhead. Continue until the "Gypsy" sign comes up and the sketchy boulder qualifier is there.
