The Playground - TRAIL

The Playground - Trail, Thousand Oaks, California

Downhill and dual-slalom practice 'park'. You shuttle to the top via a dirt road. Dual / multi-rider slalom course designed for DH bikes. Steep, technical, with lots of jumps and corners. Downhill courses. Drops. Big berms. Jumps of all types, some huge. Big doubles, 20-35' tables, wood ramp jumps, 27' step down double-double's, rhythm section, etc. $12 donation and must sign waiver. Open Saturday's from 9:30 to 4:00. Usually followed by a session on nearby sick DH runs with the hardcore crew. Seen recently in Mountain Bike Action. Good time vibe with ripping course and jumps. Attracts riders through pro level. A slalom bike will have a slight edge in some corners, but it's built for DH bikes, and you will want the DH rig over the big stuff. Photographer Dave Sheppard is usually on hand if you want to air it out for pix.

The longest, and most challenging dual slalom course around. There is a private road to the top of the course used for shuttles. The Playground is located on private land. Open most Saturday's.
A four man wide start. Six-pack sections, super - steep sweeper turns, speed sections with jumps and bumps, big table jumps at the end, step -up jumps and more await to challenge the novice and professional rider.
Many top name pro's have ridden here and train here on Saturdays.Most commonly the course is noted similar to the Sea Otter slalom course due to its steepness and banked turns. All are welcome.Easy to get to from up north or down south. Only two miles off the 23 or 3 miles of 118 freeway.
Bring your downhill bike or a slalom bike with dual suspension. All must sign waiver. Donations accepted.
$ 12.oo is common donation

Dual course has been undergoing improvements over the last couple of months, and is now a lot better than before. More, bigger, better jumps. Options. Shaping improvements. Dumb stuff removed. 3 new short downhill courses, with steeps, great turns, and several big jumps and drops. Many truckloads of dirt have been added.

Once a nice spot but getting dumb. Main guy who was building it seems to be gone. They dont seem to quite have the hang of building jumps now. Big take offs, with small impossibly steep landings. Ouch! What happended? It was really getting nice at the end of last year. Not worth $ or a long drive anymore :(

What is the deal with this place is it a bike park or not? I heard about the playground and got all pumped up and no people are saying that it is not open anymore. Email me and tell me the story!
