Rocky Peak Trail - Trail, Simi Valley, California

Rocky Peak Trail - Trail, Simi Valley, California

DESCRIPTION

Climbs, climbs and more climbs. Best trail for most cardiovascular exercise given the shortest distance travelled. The fire road all the way to the top varies from being smooth to sandy to having water eroded ruts depending on the time of the year. You can continue on from the top and hit Chumash or take Humming Bird trail on your way down to test out your technical riding skills by riding the whole single track clean.. .. Test out your endurance and see what kind of shape you are in by timing yourself from the bottom of Rocky Peak trail to the top. I heard Norba Racers can make it up the hill in the low 20s.. My best time is 25 minutes and 39 seconds. (00:25:39)

Using an altimeter, Rocky Peak is 1150' total elevation gain in 2.7 miles. I thought I was good turning a 23.48 best but I got pasted by a guy who told me his best was 18 minutes.

There are 2 west bound trails to go dowm (Humming Bird and Chumash) and 1 east bound (Johnson). Try up Johnson (park car at Rock Peak and 118), down Humming Bird, up Chumash and down Rocky Peak for a mere 16 mile ride. You'll be ready for Durango, Colorado.

this trail has it all... a little of fireroads then some tec. single track. Some parts are a little hairy, but that's what makes the decent so much fun. This is a great close ride for people that live in the San Fernando valley. This trail is for an intermediate rider that's looking for a good. challange.
