This is a fun trail i enjoy at least once a week. i like to ride the perimeter trail starting at the Marsh st. access and taking the lower lemon grove loop, then around the base counter clockwise and up the fire road to the top. the north side needs at least 2 days to dry out after a rain, sometimes more. this is a great time to do trailwork rather than ride. because of vandalism we are in serious danger of losing access to the private property on the mountain.
PLEASE be aware the majority of San Luis Mountain is private property. The property owners have been very generous in allowing nearly full access to multiple trail users. PLEASE respect their property. DO NOT under any circumstances cut fences, climb fences, make new trails or leave any gates open. Failure to care for this property will jeopardize opportunities for access.

there are a few ways you can go up and down. the easiest way to go up is the side that faces west. when you reach the top you can go down the rock garden or the way you came up. the rock garden is just how it sounds, its just about all rock and for intermidate bikers. halfway up the main trail you will come to a single trak called the perimeter. its a fun little trail that will lead you around the mountain and along the way it had some jumps.

if you like the rock garden i suggest to go up the irish hills, its not as hard but still has some fun little rocky sections, and not a hard uphill ride.

Sweet ride for after work or school. Nice climb, with a killer downhill if you take the rock garden which goes down the opposite side you came up, that makes it on the south face. dont kill any hikers.

Customer Service

start at the parking lot, stay left at the first fork, after the switch backs take the second trail up, its a little less steep. then go to the top and bomb down the rockgarden.
