Rockville Park - Trail, Fairfield, California

Rockville Park - Trail, Fairfield, California

DESCRIPTION

Big hill to start out with, but once you're at the top it's flat and free riding, huge trail system, some technical(the rock garden) some easy and some great DH. Only problem is you have to go back up.

I have ridden this trail twice in the last 2 months. Each time I have loved it. The park it's self is a large network of short trails ( Here's a link to the park website. .

A fun little rollercoaster of a trail. It's a small park with some interesting challenges. A very tricky rock garden that you HAVE to walk through (not ride). IF you are THAT good, try it but I doubt you'll leave unscathed or in one piece. Nevertheless, it's an awesome trail. Start out with a big climb to get warmed up and it's a windy, up and down ride.

Customer Service

I don't have any recommendations. A friend and I went there together and despite our skill, we both fell at least once. Every route leads back to some cross trail so feel free to explore. You might find yourself riding the same trails a couple of times unknowingly. You're done when you are tired; not when you get bored.

I found myself stuck in Vacaville on business for the next few months, found out about Rockville and brought my bike with me. What a great ride and a great way to get a weekday ride in that works my technical climbing skills. This place may be small in acreage but there are tons of fun trails to ride and no end to exploration. Many of the most technical sections have easier outside routes worn into them, so for the most fun stay down the middle. And for the best climbing workouts ride UP the most technical singletracks!

Customer Service

I still have a lot to explore here. One thing I've found after a few rides is you can pretty much go any which way you want and make up a cool ride as you go along. All trails will pretty much get you back to the Upper Lake, which will get you back to the parking lot, so no worries about getting lost here.

I don't think there's much else around here. I'm from the South Bay so if you're ever there check out Soquel Demo, Henry Coe, Santa Teresa, Wilder Ranch, Montebello and Saratoga Gap, and El Corte de Madera (aka "Skeggs") for lots of fun singletrack.

I`VE BEEN RIDING THIS PARK SINCE (94)&ENJOY EVERY TRAIL IT HAS TO OFFER.I DID ALL MY TRAINING FOR THE SEAOTTER CLASSIC THERE WITH GREAT SUCCESS. ANYBODY THAT SAYS THEY RODE THE WHOLE PARK IN ONE HOUR(PAT FROM WALNUT CREEK)CAN NOT BE DONE THERE IS TO MANY TRAILS.THE PARK HAS ROCK GARDEN TRAILS,SWEET SINGLETRACKS THAT RIDE ALONG SMALL CLIFFS,IF YOU START AT THE ELECTRIC TOWER YOU GET A PRETTY GOOD DOWNHILL RUN,THE BACK SIDE TRAILS HAVE A FAST DECEND THATS LOOSE GRAVEL VERY FUN . NONE OF CLIMBS ARE VERY LONG BUT WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD WORKOUT IF YOU HIT 3 OR 4 OF THEM ON YOUR RIDE.THE BEST PART IS WHEN YOUR DONE RIDING YOU GOT A NICE FAST DOWNHILL RUN.IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A WELL ROUNDED RIDE GIVE IT A CHANCE I PROMISE YOU WILL COME BACK FOR MORE.

If you are giving this place a "5" it is time to venture out of Fairfield and ride somewhere else. It has a lot of short single track and some good technical areas, but other than that it is nothing to write home about. If you have an hour after work or school and need something to do it is great but it certainly isn't worth making it your weekend destination.

Customer Service

I haven't been in the are long enough.

Riding everything in the Rockville park in an hour would require a wormhole of some sort. There are a variety of trails for a variety of riders but overall it is a nice cross country park. Trailhead is usually crowded and people are usually riding until dark every night. Crowded on weekends. Nice trail with some mildly technical rock gardens, some creative free riding opportunities and a lot of cross country cyclocross style hardpack. Taking different branches off of the trail's main hub (near a cow-infested pond) can lead to some very steep, rocky sections. Be sure to wear a helmet - accidents on public property influence public policy.

Extremely technical sections, lots of hills, lots of rocks, good drop offs, very steep climbs, narrow trails on cliffs and plenty of poison oak add to the ambiance. My favorite section is the up the Rock Garden and down into the Unknown (which starts at the top of the rock garden and drops down a knarly rutted single track). Another good section is go passed the lake and over the fence and turn right up a very steep long climb into the manzanita forest.

Customer Service

Explore, there's a lot of single track that is hidden by steep climbs... Takes about 2 hours of hammering to cover ~95% of the park. Ride-able year round.
