Brookandridge - Trail, New Gloucester Gray, California

Brookandridge - Trail, New Gloucester Gray, California

DESCRIPTION

Rolling powerlines branch off to high rolling ridges, interrupted by dales and brooks, , mostly singletrack, some snowmobile trails, tight and twisty where it''s not as technical, excellent drainage, rock bridges, lots of natural beauty, ideal for aggressive cross country or ss, great for backcountry skiing! There is a loop that I do, but the trail is set up like a grid of parallel hills and switchbacks. You''ll find your way. State owned land (300+ acres off the south side of the pole lines) used with permission from State Fishery and Maine Fish and Game (if you see them introduce say hello), north side off pole lines do have some established snow mobile trails. Land borders state fishery, Route 100/ 202, Mayall and Bennett Roads, and turnpike- powerlines run through perpendicular to highway. As with all trails: avoid eroded areas by porting or using appropriate bridges, reduce skidding on problematic areas, respect landowners, and if necessary make a bridge and get over it!

Brookandridge is a new, but thoughtfully developed trail system only 35 minutes from Portland, 15 minutes from Lewiston. The rolling hills and technical switchbacks offer challenge and there are still plenty of places to really open up. As of August 06 the trails were expansive, but a small portion need to be refined. Much of the topography has yet to be developed- it will be interesting to see this gem polish and shine!
