This can be a great nearly 30 mile ride with some fun single track as well as the rolling fire roads. Avoid windy conditions or you will be fighting to stay upright, we had 30+ mph winds.

Customer Service

This is a great trail! Great views, fun high-speed sections. It's more of a "date ride" somewhere between Angel Island and Repack. But, I always start from the top and hammer back up from the gate.

This trail is about 20 miles north of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake. The views are wonderful of Tomales Bay, hills, and redwood covered mountains. However of course you lose the view when entering the trees about at about 6 miles riding south. I saw a very large white stage while riding at sunset.

If you like moderate climbs and gorgeous surroundings, this trail is for you.

Fun, fun, and more fun. Strictly high-speed fire road without the Tam Nazis. There is a decent loose wash to scar up the overly confident. I do the down and back up as a fitness ride with my SO.

This is a good trail to be ridden in the summer when conditions are dry. Winter riding gets tough once you hit the redwoods due to mud but that can be fun too. Quite a bit if wildlife, hawks, eagles, foxes , and moose. Never crowded. good 3-4 hour commitment.

Ride starts with a series of uphill cardiovascular work-outs...Steer clear of the dairy cattle..be sure to close the gates behind you. Exposed fire road with great views of Tomalas Bay and West Marin hills. After about 5 miles, trail enters Redwoods. Continue riding through redwood grove until you reach the southern edge of the Bolinas ridge...with views of, as the name would suggest, the town of Bolinas. Trail begins to descend eventually reaching a parking lot...(I turn around once I reach the viewing area of Bolinas...no reason to continue the descent.) Double back the same way...a nice long ride...with some fun fast sections in the redwoods...and that uphill beginning becomes a great screaming downhill finish.

Customer Service

From San Rafael, drive out Sir Francis Drake Blvd. towards coast. Trailhead (left side of rd.) starts right before you get to the town of Olema. Takes about 30 minutes from the highway 101.

You can start from Samuel P. Taylor park too. There are a few trails that drop off the main trail...haven't checked them out yet..

great views on the ridge, sunsets and sunrise's are amazing...especially when the fog is rolling in over Tomales Bay. Some nice fast sections.

other routes: if you want to extend the ride- instead of starting on top of the hill...start at the ink wells. after you pass the lauganitas store driving down Sir Francis Drake, pull over at the first green bridge you come across. On the right and left sides of the bride are fire roads (these take you to kent lake). Take the one to the right, at the first fork go right, at the second go left then immediatly right. Long ass gut burning ride to the top of the ridge. Drops you off at the redwoods. From there you can ride down the ridge back to SFR, or turn around and go back down the way you came for a very fast downhill.

Easy ride, good for beginners, great views of Tomales Bay. Good uphill to go fast on since its not very steep. Fun and fast to go downhill vith a fun little jump at the end. Look out for some ripped pieces of denim where some fool made the pants to shorts conversion.

Customer Service

This trail is not technical but offers great views and a bit of distance riding. Once you hit the forest canopy it gets a bit more interesting.

Customer Service

Start at the top of the Olema hill or in S.P.T. state park and ride the ridge to Fairfax-Bolinas rd. Then go twards Fairfax on the paved road until you hit Azalia Hill fire road that connects with the pine mountain trail. It's a nice long ride for a Sunday. Takes me about four hours of good, steady riding.
