Test Track - TRAIL

Test Track - Trail, Castaic, California

Steep narrow twisty single track descending. Some technical sections, obstacles and drop offs. Can be loose in places. Stay on the main trail. You will end at pavement at the headwaters of the resivoir. Turn right and ride back up 1/4 mile to your 2nd car. Used by certain magazines and equipment manufacturers for photos and testing. I am witholding my name so they don't kill me. Kind of short, but do it several times. Hot in the summer, so go in the early am.

The road is open but I have a felling the middle steep section is un rideable even for top level riders. Who ever built the jumps needs to go faster. If you are a faster rider, beware! All but the first 2 manmade jumps are crap and should be hit after dragging the binders a bit. Bit o' trivia...fastest time for the entire trail, to the pavement, 6:40 - 1999' My buddy turned me onto this trail in 1997' After a few hundred hours it was ripping good, now it's alright but still a blast on a DH bike. 17 minute shuttle. If you don't have a DH bike, don't go there. You will walk over 50% of it. Trust me.

this trail is BAD ASS !!!!probably my favorite ever.
great trail to test some real bike control skills.the trail gets pretty sandy if its ben dry too long so you end up just plowing through some sections and holding on.its best just after a light rain.
not as many drops as id like but if you stay left when the trail splits youll find a decent 4 to 6 foot ledge thats sure to build confidence for real downhill.the tree jump at the end is the perfect way to complete this trail.
if you fell like being "hard core" forget the extra car and ride back to the trail head..ha ha

This was a great trail, few man-maid jumps (a little tripple up top, few doubles here and there, and a cool little tree jump just befor you hit the streets). If you like DH trails with rocks, dust, sand, water, drops, jumps, little mud, swithbacks, rutts, and any other terrain, than this trail is for you. It has everything all rolled into one 4 mile trail. just be sure to bring full set of gear and your camelback, because it gets hot... I totaly recommend this trail.

Customer Service

directions are great, its very easy to find the roads and its not far from the highway.

Thanks to the peson that posted this trail, the road is now closed. The residents have always been very friendly with the locals and some others from out of the area because we respect their part of the road by maintaining a slow speed. Now that a few inconsiderate people have been speeding through this area and treating the residents with little respect, the road is closed. Thank you underground hound. I hope that all of your rides include multiple flat tires and broken bones.

To "Pissed-off:"
It's certainly not the author's fault the road was closed; he was simply trying to spread the wealth (so to speak). Furthermore, the author had the right intentions, he didn't want the road to blocked, either.

For you to hold him accountable for how other, less considerate, riders do is ridiculous.

Consequently, you should be ashamed of yourself for saying you hope he suffers broken bones while ridden. That is pathetic!
