just got back from riding bear! or should i say summit. And what a unorganized place is this. First of all i have to say what is with every local up there, they are all grumpy and rude as hell. Ok now as for the trail riding, well.... you have one lift, the trails arent even marked to what trail is what, the map they give you is upside down, the fire roads are car accessible along with the trails being for hikers as well. minding you that if your a speed demon (like me almost getting hit by a hummer) youll either get hit or hit someone. There are a bunch of side trails that arent even on the map which i asked a local stating that if your a local you would know about these. WTF i drove 2 1/2 hours to ride some so called great single tracks and all i get is unmarked trails and fire roads that lead to a condo parking lot where i almost got hit again. Bear needs to rethink there trail maping. all in all fun times but biking in bear sucks!!!

Customer Service

given that this review doesnt describe any particular 'trail' in the big bear area. its safe to say that this review is a waste of your time, the person that posted it is wacked, and big bear is actually pretty damn 'weak' for LEGAL 'trails'

One sweet single track, 1E01 (Pine Knot Trail). One challenging rock garden descent: turn right by big rock on Lower Fall Line.
One fast and easy single track: Pirates of the Caribbean.

The rest is mediocre at best, with lots of sand to slow you down and make for mushy riding. Recent bulldozing has left a lot of trails near the top soft and slow.

The countryside is beautiful, and the drive up to Big Bear is almost better than the riding. The 5 "bitches" are not named correctly, and should be called the 1 "rolling and easy" slope.

There are far more challenging trails around SoCal, but at least the views and countryside at Big Bear are nice, and don't forget that the air is clear and clean. :)
