Southside HS Trails - TRAIL

Southside HS Trails - Trail, Fort Smith, Arkansas

Park at the High School and double back the way you came. Get back on Cliff and proceed around the horseshoe. Turn left on Leigh avenue and take the next dirt road on the left, ride up this road until you reach the top. You will see a lot of trash a debris on the right side of the trail. The trailhead is below this eyesore, drop-in off of the big rock below the debris. There are signs placed along this trail. A great single track with a tough switchback on the upper end. The trail even crosses leigh avenue and proceeds off of the hill and winds up behind a local gas station. There are many trails like this in the area. Not all of them are marked. Be sure to bring extra tubes or tire patches!! As far as I know these trails are all open to the public. There is a rumor around here that the local airport owns the property. It would be a nice gesture if all of the locals would meet here once a month and do a "trail cleanup". This place really needs it!! Once you get on the trail, it is beautiful.

Trail and all surrounding land are posted and closed. Another one bites the dust.

The upper end of the trail is alot of fun. Various rocks in the trail and no logs. Watch for glass in the trail!! And if you find any, please pick it up.

A wonderful trail with an attitude. A lot of fun with friends or all alone.

This trail is hard to find and must no longer be used. We followed what looked like an old path until it disappeared into nothing. Its good terrain for trails but needs up keep. The trash in the area is sick. Tons of junk every where. This isnt realy a trail review because there realy wasnt a trail.

I suggest starting at the tennis club at the bottom of the hill instead of at the high school.Avoid the red clay mud pits at the top. These trails are a maze of single track that are used and maintained by a running club.Rarely does anyone top out where all the trash and glass is.I read in earlier reviews that there are "no trails" ...look again, explore some more.

These trails have recently fallen into serious disrepair. The normally well trodden running trails are no longer marked. The signs have been removed or vandalized. Numerous "No Trespassing" signs are posted. The place has now become an area that I dont visit on regular basis anymore.
