Hot Loop - Trail, Sedona, Arizona

Hot Loop - Trail, Sedona, Arizona

DESCRIPTION

Rocky, rocky, rocky single track. Rises about 400 vertical feet and puts you down in a creek bed. Three miles of road riding get you back to the trail head, or you can turn around at the road and ride back, making it 10 miles.

I bought a map from Sedona Bike & Bean and chose to ride this trail first because it was the only trail rated as difficult. They told me to do Bell Canyon, but I blew it off because I thought everybody and their brother would be on it. The Hot Loop has about a million and one rocks. I'm an intermediate rider and had to get off my bike about 30 times. It might be a fun hike if you like to be alone, but the views pale in comparison to the trails in and around Bell Rock.

hey its tuogh but i hate to love this trail. it has a rauciously tough uphill at the beginning. ive cleaned it 2x and it is not easy. tech ability should be intermediate to advanced. the downside is the amount of road time you do. coffee and food at the end of the ride.

Customer Service

start at the outlet mall,up jacks canyon rdto the trail head and onward. you will hit th highway at the end of it and on the road to complete the loop.

Great trail. A little technical on the climb right off the bat, but pays off nicely with a hanus twisty descent down the backside. Drops, sweeping turns, a few little jumps and some loose rock. You can grub down at the creek if you brought food just before you hop on the highway back to the Village(there's a bike lane on the shoulder, too). Nice warm up for other trails in the area.

Customer Service

Start at Jack's Canyon trailhead and head up and over the pass.

Much of what I rode in Sedona was fun, fun, fun but not overly challenging unless you went looking for it. The chutes, drops and tech spots are there in gobs if you want them, so overall Sedona/Oak Creek is awesome riding and worth the trip from anywhere.

Hot Loop was recommended by The Bike & Bean Crew (2 Thumbs Up for those guys). It was great. Technical, rocky, sandy, climb to start. Then, the reward of an even rockier, mine field, switch-back, agave laiden, grinning ear-to-ear down hill to finish. My only complaint is that it was, like many loops in Sedona, TOO SHORT! The way to ride Sedona is to connect loops and Hot Loop is definitely one to hit.

I would call this trail advanced to expert because of the non-stop rocks and the good rugged climb. I look forward to my next trip to Sedona. Hot Loop would be a "5" if it was longer, I give it a "4".

Customer Service

Start at Trail Head on Jack's Canyon Road off Route 179 at the South End of Oak Creek Village.
