Sunrise Mountain Trail - TRAIL

Sunrise Mountain Trail - Trail, Peoria, Arizona

Sunrise Mountain Trail is relatively new, about 2 years old. The lower section has been bermed up, there are several small jumps and drops off to the side of the trail(4-5 feet. The upper section and upper loop is single track, and the lower section (first 1.5 miles) is wider probably about 4 feet wide.

Definitely a quick ride, maybe an hour cruising around, towards the top gets ridiculous and impossible. But great coming down once you hike a bit more, definitely a "hike and bike". The less difficult route is the only way to go. Go the long way around. Fun ups and downs!

Customer Service

Less difficult trail is the only way, the difficult one is geared towards hikers, unless you like carrying your bike...

decent new trail. Has a mix of cross country and a little downhill. No one really uses the trail so it is good to bomb down.

Customer Service

I ve riden this trail twice, I would only reccomend it if your looking for a quick ride. The first part of the trail is rideable with a couple good climbs. After the first mile and a half the trail turns unrideable which makes for a very quick ride. We made the mistake of hiking a bike and riding down the other side of the mountain which led us to a dead end. If your looking for a good ride around the area try Thunderbird park, many more options.

Sunrise Mountain trail has a mix of very technical tight single track and wide open, fast trail as well. It is almost impossible to ride up the last 1/2 mile of single track, but everything else is climbable. The downhill is great, many of the faster turns on the lower section have been bermed for a nice, quick, flowy trail. There are also a few jumps off to the side of the trail on the lower portions, not on the upper single track.

Customer Service

The entire trail system is mapped and is available at the trailhead. The trail also has mile markers along the route. The long loop is great for XCers, i typically just push my bike to the western most peak and ride the single track down to the wider portion of the trail and take that back to the parking lot (about a 1.5 mile downhill).
