North Forty--Tortolitas - TRAIL

North Forty--Tortolitas - Trail, Oro Valley, Arizona

This trail is an extension of the Nirvana Trail that originates in Rancho Vistoso. You can start the trail by driving on Edwin Road to the small mine north of the road about 1/2 miles before the cattleguard that goes into the large mine at the end of Edwin Road. Follow the road in an easterly and northern direction around the small hill that the little mine is on. It eventually reaches a windmill. From there you can continue north on a road, or behind the corral and near the base of the windmill is a single track that heads west and south. This is an excellent route. It ends up at the cattleguard that is the entrance to the mine. Head back to your starting point, or take the single track just east of the cattleguard that is part of the Nirvana loops.

We finally found the rumored "North Forty" trail off Edwin Road at the east side of the Tortolita Mountains. This trail follows two track initially, but from the windmill is single track back to the starting point. You could add this as an extension to the Nirvana Trail and have a great long day of it. This route follows a jeep road and eventually takes you all the way north to the Cochise Spring Road.

Start off Edwin Road, riding clockwise. The jump off point is a little tough to find, but consult the map I posted on Everytrail.
