Lost Burrito Trail - TRAIL

Lost Burrito Trail - Trail, Flagstaff, Arizona

Lost Burrito is the long lost steep shortcut up to Dry Lake Hills. So named when mutant Rex Phester coughed up a sizeable chunk of his breakfast burrito on the ascent. It is the fastest way up the Mt. Elden Trail system. If you can't find it, you don't want it. It is too steep and rough for most normal people. It is better to ride down if you got the big travel forks, but it is harder to find from the top, so it's best if you ride up at least the first time and pay your dues.

This trail has alot of potential,If someone went out there with a shovel and invested some time we could have some real fun. There is a really tight switchback near the beginning that ruins your momentum. The dirt is so loose your almost have to get of your bike.Three cheers to anyone who can clear it.Besides that section there is really nothing challenging about this trail. That section is more annoying than challenging.

up little knarly and right through dry lake hills, pass the way to jedi and keep going.Stay to the right when the trail splits and then make a left up a small hill where you see a huge fallen tree. You enter another section of dry lake hills .When almost get to the end make a left on the fire road through the trees and there you are.Realize you have blown it by wasting all that time to peddle out there ,its time to get in with the locals and discover the killer downhill secret trails that come off Eldon.

A worthy trail. Hard to get to based on the fact that you have to get up and over that big hill in the dry-lake hills to get to the trail. I rode my DH bike up elden road to the top, so by this time I was pooped, so I'm sure that has something to do with it, but I'd say a full on freeride bike is what you really want to ride a lot of these trails. The top is rough, loose, rocky, and steep. The real challenge comes from the loose rocks and steep slope. The 2nd half is fun singletrack, no more drops or rocky chutes for the most part, just winding singletrack that is fun.

excellent trail. receives little use. steep and rocky up top, smoother with some nice banks and whoopdees toward the bottom. this is pretty much a downhill only trail, you could (theoretically) ride the lower portion uphill, but the top is just too steep. great choice when other trails are crowded or your looking for some nice steep riding. expert riders only.

The lower section is a blast. I love this part of the trail (I'll get to the top later). I think that you can ride about a mile up this trail before it gets to steep to continue. I prefer to do this and then ride back down to Rocky Ridge. This section is rocky in places, but it has a lot of smooth stuff and nice banked corners too. You can ride this part pretty fast. Anyone who can ride up this part of the hill rides enough to have the skills to ride back down. I highly recomend this lower section.
Now for the top portion of the trail. I have only ridden this once and I was sure I was going to die a grousome, yet quick death. Way too difficult for my skill level, and I'm a pretty good rider. This section is very steep, has a lot of short drops, has a lot of switchbacks and off-camber stuff, and all of it is loose and rocky. In a few places there are trees that try to rip you off your bike. Seriously, this is a very difficult piece of trail. Dont ride this unless you are a very experienced and skillful downhiller. I was happy just to survive this section of the trail with most of my body still functioning properly. My bike didn't fare so well as my body, I had to fix lots of stuff after this adventure.
Lower section- marvelous
Upper section- suicide

There is a hidden entrance on the Rocky Ridge Trail pretty near where you cross the wash about .5 miles from Schultz Creek TH.

This trail should be called Lost Trail, where you fill in the blank with whatever your stomach contents are. Or were. Lower half is fun and somewhat challenging to ride up, and a good but short ride down. The top half is impossible to ride up (and even a decent hike).

I wouldn't even try to ride down the top half, but then again I ride a steel hardtail with a 3" travel fork.

Up as far as you can ride then back down to Rocky Ridge.

Very technical upper, super steep with rocks and ledges. Walk what you are not comfy riding! Lower half is fast, twisty single track, very fun. Dan Diaz can ride this w/no suspension, so don't whine about needing a downhill bike. That said, a 6-7 inch all mountain bike makes it a lot easier, but it has tight dropping turns that big bikes are hard put to track. Take your time, scout it out the first time, and it will change your life.

Customer Service

Up Schulz Creek, up Little Gnarly, out the end of Dry Lakes, make a left at the big pine tree, then out the end of the meadow.
