Town Creek Multiuse Trail System - TRAIL

Town Creek Multiuse Trail System - Trail, Guntersville, Alabama

The trail starts up a steep uphill. A little ways up the trail splits. For more steep uphill go left onto Stubbefield Mtn, or go right on Sall’s Hollow for more of a contour trail. Sall’s continues to climb gradually for a bit, but starts to roll soon. There’s more climbing than down though. Once you top out Stubbefield Mtn, it rolls mostly downhill. Both trails reconnect in a couple miles. The loop is 2.76 miles. Stubbefield Mtn does have a nice rock garden on it. Most of the trail here is old double track that has grown in.

At the reconnect, Sall’s Hollow continues. The trail now cycles through steep downhill, contour trail, steep uphill, contour trail, and then repeats. The down side to the hills are they are washed out, covered in leafs, and have a lot of loose rock/gravel.The contour sections are nice though, and in some spots fairly long. I would say around every 1/2 mile expect a hill. We had to push/walk most of the hills. To Village Ford Gap trail is 3.76 miles. Village Ford Gap is it is 1.40 mile loop.

Down side of the trail is that it is closed for hunting season: Dec. 1- Jan. 31) The Park abutts a hunting club''s land. No Fee. Open Sunrise to 30 mins before sunset. Maintained be park, and local riders.

this trail is right out my back door, so i ride it alot, it's pretty new and the first real bike trail in our State Park. it could still use a little work especially on the lower side, near the lake, so feel free to pitch in and help out or contact me and we'll work on it together. and if your in the area be sure to visit the multi-use trail at Morgans Cove, about 8 miles north of Towncreek.

i enter at the steep side where the equestrians park, straight up and over the mountain, take the left fork and up some more then it drops in and starts to snake nicely back toward Towncreek and the lake at about the 2 mile mark it joins a double-track used buy four-wheelers, bare right and follow it to the next fork. here if you go left, you can traverse another 5 or so miles and end up with about 8 total or take the right and follow the red blazes back toward the Towncreek bridge and on to the campground for a 3 mile loop.
